  • An art-loving couple who are self-isolating in London have created a miniature art gallery for their pet gerbils.<br />
<br />
9-month-old brothers Pandoro and Tiramisù were met with a special surprise when their owners Filippo Lorenzin, an independent curator who works at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, and his girlfriend, artist Marianna Benetti, unveiled a DIY miniature museum - the product of four hours of labour during the couple’s 14th day of quarantine.<br />
<br />
The little gallery features four exquisite paintings modelled on famous masterpieces.<br />
<br />
Versions of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, all rendered in Benetti’s expert hand, grace the museum’s walls.<br />
<br />
Each, of course, comes with its own animalistic twist, subbing in a rodent where a human might otherwise feature - tailored, perhaps, to the VIP pint-sized patrons.<br />
<br />
Johannes Vermeer’s The Girl With the Pearl Earring, for instance, is re-imagined as The Gerbil With the Pearl Earring.<br />
<br />
Each parody is finished off with a clean cardboard frame and a wall label featuring a QR code.<br />
<br />
Speaking to Bored Panda, Filippo said: "We visit museums and galleries whenever we can. We are interested in the artworks as much as in the way these are displayed.<br />
<br />
"Are the QR codes to engage the public working? How comfortable are the gallery stools? Is there any audio guide? etc.<br />
<br />
"When Marianna suggested to make a sort of doll house for our beloved gerbils as pastime for a lazy Sunday spent locked at home, I suggested to make a small art gallery. She is very good at painting and it was a nice opportunity to keep us busy with a fun project."<br />
<br />
According to Filippo, the gerbils love the gallery.<br />
<br />
"They seemed interested in everything but the paintings, which made us laugh," he said.<br />
<br />
"They explored the space interacting with the stool, the signs and the benches instead."<br />
<br />
Filippo and Marianna have been blown away with the reaction to the project on social media and are open to

Versions of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, all rendered in Benetti’s expert hand, grace the museum’s walls.<br />
<br />
Each, of course, comes with its own animalistic twist, subbing in a rodent where a human might otherwise feature - tailored, perhaps, to the VIP pint-sized patrons.<br />
<br />
Johannes Vermeer’s The Girl With the Pearl Earring, for instance, is re-imagined as The Gerbil With the Pearl Earring.<br />
<br />
Each parody is finished off with a clean cardboard frame and a wall label featuring a QR code.<br />
<br />
Speaking to Bored Panda, Filippo said: "We visit museums and galleries whenever we can. We are interested in the artworks as much as in the way these are displayed.<br />
<br />
"Are the QR codes to engage the public working? How comfortable are the gallery stools? Is there any audio guide? etc.<br />
<br />
"When Marianna suggested to make a sort of doll house for our beloved gerbils as pastime for a lazy Sunday spent locked at home, I suggested to make a small art gallery. She is very good at painting and it was a nice opportunity to keep us busy with a fun project."<br />
<br />
According to Filippo, the gerbils love the gallery.<br />
<br />
"They seemed interested in everything but the paintings, which made us laugh," he said.<br />
<br />
"They explored the space interacting with the stool, the signs and the benches instead."<br />
<br />
Filippo and Marianna have been blown away with the reaction to the project on social media and are open to

However, this galaxy is far from the most interesting spectacle here, behind it sits a galaxy cluster. Galaxies are not randomly distributed in space; they swarm together, gathered up by the unyielding hand of gravity, to form groups and clusters. The Milky Way is a member of the Local Group, which is part of the Virgo Cluster, which in turn is part of the 100,000-galaxy-strong Laniakea Supercluster. The galaxy cluster seen in this image is known as SDSS J0333+0651. (Credit Image: ? ESA/NASA via ZUMA Wire/ZUMAPRESS.com)

  • August 16, 2017 - inconnu - A newconcept car inspired by classic racing cars has been unveiled by upmarket Nissan off-shot brand Infiniti.The Prototype 9 is an all-electric motor with designers imagining what an Infinity race car might have looked like in the 1940s – even though the firm is less than 30 years old.The Prototype 9 was hand-built by a small team as an “out-of-work hours” project and combines a 70-year-old design with latest electric tech.Under the bonnet is a electric motor from parent company Nissan’s Advanced Powertrain Department that will pump out 148bhp – although it’s only good for 20 minutes of track use before needing a recharge.It’s a rear-wheel drive racer and can reach 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 106mph.The body is made from steel panels wrapped around a ladder frame with panels hammered into shape by craftsmen.The entire design takes inspiration from Japanese motorsport and aeronautic design.There’s an exposed cockpit, open-wheel layout, 19-inch wire-spoke wheels and the double arch-grille that can be modern on modern day Infiniti vehiclesThe single-seater cabin is handmade with contrast red stitching and Japanese flags etched into the headrest.The speedo and other instrument dials are fitted into the centre of the steering wheel rather than on a traditional dash with the steering wheel rotating around the hub.Infiniti global design chief Alfonso Albaisa said: “We discussed the idea of chancing upon an unrecognised race car, hidden away for decades in a barn, deep in the Japanese countryside.“We wanted to explore what this looked like, what it would have been made of.“Open-wheeled racers of the age were beautiful machines, elegant and powerful and with a wonderful purity of purpose.“It’s an automotive fantasy, but the notion captured our imaginations enough to put pencil to paper.”Chairman and global president Roland Krueger aid a ma

  • August 14, 2017 - inconnu - A painter hailed as “the world’s finest living art forger” has joined forces with a micro sculptor to create a £1 million version of the Mona Lisa.John Myatt has painted a version of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece.He has teamed up with UK-based Willard Wigan , who specialises in tiny sculpture that fit in the eye of a needle.Wigan ,59 , has created an almost microscopic Mona Lisa replica that features in the left eye of Myatt’s version.The rendering measures just under 1mm squared and is in it’s own real 24 carat gold frameWigan painted it with the hair of a fly.The finished work, titled Mona Lisa: Secret In The Eye, is available to view online, and purchase through, luxury website VeryFirstTo.com for £1 million GBP / $1,252,200 USD / €1.118 million Euros. It is also exhibited at, and available for purchase at, London’s Trinity House Paintings Gallery, London, Mayfair now and in its New York Gallery soon after.The fake Mona Lisa sits in a hand-carved carved frame.A spokesman for VeryFirstTo said:” To the globally recognised enigmatic smile and follow-you eyes, this totally authentic-looking portrait reproduces the painting’s outstanding beauty.“One can just about detect, with the naked eye, that Mona Lisa’s right pupil has something within it. “However, one can only establish that this spec in the eye is, in fact, a miniature portrait of the Mona Lisa with the assistance of a strong magnifier. “Wigan, who has to go into a trance-like meditative state to slow down his nervous system so he can work between heartbeats, has somehow managed to capture the protagonist’s distinctive features on the most miniscule of canvases. “The spokesman said before creating the work, Myatt and Wigan had never met.He added:” Reports of a secret code being discovered in the eyes of the world’s most famous painting, simultaneously ignited

  • August 9, 2017 - inconnu - Here’s a farm for the big city – which fits on the back of a bicycle.The idea is to bring the experinces of urban farming to a larger community.The aptly named Bike Share Farm is a solar-powered planting system on wheels. Placed a top two interconnected bicycles, the hydroponic farm can be ridden from place to placeIt was inspired by bike share systems now prevalent in many major cities.The frame of the Bike Share Farm also allows for bicycles to be interchangeable.At each stop a new cyclist can attach his bike to the structure, replacing the existing bike. It was created by China’s People's Industrial Design Office , known as PIDO .A team designed and built it during a 72 hour hack-athon in Seoul , South Korea organised by Art Center Nabi. The project asked people to consider the theme of sharing technology and ecologvy in large conurbations.Design rofessionals were asked to generate ideas on urban and ecological issues. Seoul is a massive city with many high-rise buildings but fe garden spaces for the I habitants. A spokeswoman for PIDO said:” Mobile farms can make shared urban farming possible in such a dense megacity.” # POTAGER MOBILE GRACE A DES VELOS PARTAGES (Credit Image: © Visual via ZUMA Press)

  • June 6, 2017 - inconnu - The sky is the limit for passengers on a new executive private jet – which features a live view of the outside inside the cabin.The Infinito cabin on the new Airbus ACJ319Neo has a ceiling, which can bring a live view of the sky above the aircraft into the cabin – or display other images. This creates an even greater feeling of airiness and space.It can all be done at the touch of a button and make passengers feel there are no walls between them and the sky outside.It was created for Airbus by Italian supercar company Pagani Automomobili.The design uses s state-of-the-art composite materials never seen before in an aircraft, such as CarboTitanium, a mixture of super-strong carbon fibre and titanium.Pagani’s design team created the initial Infinito design, including its look and feel, while Airbus Corporate Jets’ designers contributed their experience in aircraft design and compatibility.A spokesman said curves inspired by nature form a pathway through the cabin, as well as featuring in the shell-shaped valances and walls between zones .This includes one between lounge and conference areas, which switches from opaque to transparent at the touch of a button.Décor is reminiscent of that gracing Pagani cars, with natural soft-leather carpets and a wooden floor contrasting with man-made carbon fibre in furniture and wall-frames.The spokesman said this echoes the combination of art and science “originally espoused by Leonardo da Vinci.”Sculpted metal features, mirroring those found in Pagani cars, feature in light-fittings and other details, while LED lights enable different mood-lighting ambiances.Pagani founder and chief designer Horacio Pagani said:” Applying our Reinassance touch into the wider spaces of Airbus corporate jet cabins is the beginning of an exciting new venture for us.”The aircraft is part of the Airbus’ ACJ320 family which already has the widest and tallest business j
