• Cristiano Ronaldo packs a punch in a new photoshoot to promote his new superhero-inspired line of underwear. The 34-year-old Portuguese footballer shows off his impressive physique and rippling abs as he models a series of form-fitting boxer shorts from the Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection. The Juventus FC star poses in a range of briefs in front of a series of comic book style backdrops emblazoned with words including ‘strength, power, belief’. Speaking of the new line, the father-of-four said: ‘Everyone knows that underwear is one of the best parts of any superhero’s wardrobe and I believe that everyone has their own superpowers. For the SS19 CR7 Underwear campaign I was asked what mine are and I encourage my fans to identify and celebrate theirs.’ Referring to his ‘superpowers’, Ronaldo went on: ‘The first is Power. Everyone has their own power — it’s all about finding the unique power in you. Mine comes from training hard to become physically powerful but also from having the power to inspire others to work hard for their dreams, which is something I am really passionate about and grateful for. ‘Strength is an essential superpower. I don’t just focus on keeping my body strong, but my mind too. Both physical and mental strength are equally important to me and something I work hard to achieve. ‘Belief is key. It’s so important to have self-belief and to also believe in and uplift the people around you. I have a great team, so it’s easy to have belief in what we can achieve. ‘And, of course, my secret superpower- my CR7 Underwear. I always feel my best, my most confident when I’m wearing CR7 Underwear.’ The Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection is available online and from select retailers worldwide. 24 Apr 2019 Pictured: Cristiano Ronaldo models a series of form-fitting boxer shorts from the Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection. • It may seem like a prop from a science fiction film but this stunning machine is the world's first fully printable electric bike. NERA is a concept e-bike created by German manufacturer BigRep. The astonishing device was conceived, designed and completed in just 15 weeks thanks to the mind-blowing efficiency of 3D printing. It is almost entirely printed through additive manufacturing, the only parts that aren’t are the electrical components that power this fully functional automobile. Amazingly, even the airless tires are 3D-printed. The futuristic design looks more like something Batman would drive, and one of the most noticeable design features is the big empty space where a motorcycle’s engine usually goes. Instead, there is an electric motor hidden in the rear wheel, and the batteries are embedded into the minimalist bodywork. Only 15 different parts were printed to make this bike come together, and the total weight is only 132 pounds, making it over 100 pounds lighter than a Vespa scooter. BigRep also made the bike's structure flexible enough to soak up bumps so it can be driven without a traditional suspension. That includes the 3D-printed tires which are designed with a custom tread and unique matrix construction to make them road-friendly. The bike also features a custom fitted seat and chest rest printed with flexible thermoplastic, programmable smart LEDs including headlights, tail lights, and accent lights along the body and forkless steering with eight pivot points, which increases joint strength. According to BigRep, NERA shows that the low cost and fast results of 3D manufacturing allows designers to test prototypes immediately and rapidly produce iterations of innovative engineering. They have yet to announce when or if the impressive bike will be available on the open market. 27 Nov 2018 Pictured: NERA the first fully printed ebike. • Fancy spicing up your night? Now you can with a stay in the iconic bus from the Spice Girls movie. Host Suzanne Godley teamed up with Airbnb to create this unique and nostalgic stay in time for the Spice Girls reunion tour. The accommodation is made from the original Union Jack bus from the Spice Girls' 1997 movie Spice World, which was then converted into a luxury apartment. The Spice Bus will be situated in the heart of Wembley Park, London, where guests will be able to stay overnight from June 14. The recently renovated living area features pink Union Jack cinema chairs below a ‘Girl Power’ neon light installation and is fully stocked with vintage 90s magazines and CDs to help recreate the 90s era. With bold interiors, potted plants create a fresh homely feel downstairs while bright colourful scatter cushions surround the central seating area, providing a comfy place for guests to relax and spend time with each other. Upstairs there’s a dressing and the adjoining bedroom, which is fitted with a striking animal-print carpet, provides comfy bedding for three guests who get to call the Spice Bus home for the night. Suzanne, who is a Spice Girls superfan, said: “When my boss mentioned that he was considering buying the Spice Bus I was desperate to be a part of its renovation. We’ve worked hard over the past few months to turn the bus into a home, in keeping with its legacy, and I’m so excited to open it up to the public with the support of Airbnb. Being part of this project has been like a dream come true and I can’t wait to meet other Spice Girls fans through this experience.”. 15 May 2019 Pictured: Spice bus converted to Airbnb. • July 27, 2017 - Queensland, inconnu - An electric powered tricycle is all set to go places. The DC-Tri’s unique design provides riders with a low centre of gravity making it virtually untippable. It even offers riders two optional rear tyre sleeves giving the trike the ability to drift. Because there is no requirement for riders to have great balance, it makes the machine appealing to a wide range of people, including young adults and an older, commuting demographic. The trike was designed to reduce pain associated with long distance bike riding such as wrist strain, back and saddle soreness. The Australian team behind the trike says riders can travel long distances, far more safely and with much more control than a traditional push trike or scooter. To operate the trike, riders simply step on the floor platform, turn on the battery via the controller on the left hand grip and then press the throttle located on the right grip. Using the LCD screen, users can monitor distance, speed, travel duration and more. There’s even a USB port for charging devices. The trike’s mode controller offers five different speeds, allowing users to maximize their speed limits. To slow down, riders simply squeeze the disc brake located on the left grip. Additionally, riders can adjust the trike’s shocks, based on terrain, or these can simply be locked. The trike can travel up to 15 MPH for up to 20-30 miles, dependent on use, and features a battery that can be recharged with its accompanying charger and through any standard power outlet. Riders can opt to self-propel or use the electric motor to ride the trike. Self-propelling allows the trike to be ridden like a scooter. The trike’s unique design means it fits through virtually any standard door or elevator. Its size and width are also compatible for use on pavements, footpaths and walkways. A spokesman said:” Perhaps the most impressive feature is the trike’s zero turning radius and exceptio

 • On a clear day, Heard Island stands as a small drumstick-shaped patch of rock and snow amidst a vast expanse of blue. Located in the southwestern Indian Ocean and only accessible by boat, the small volcanic island is situated 4,000 kilometers southwest of Western Australia, 4,700 kilometers southeast of Africa, and 1,000 kilometers north of Antarctica.
When the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 captured this image of Heard Island, just the tip of Mawson Peak - the highest point on the island - was visible through the sheet of marine stratocumulus clouds swirling over this part of the Furious Fifties. Though just 2,745 meters (9,006 feet), the mountain was tall enough to stir up several cloud vortices that swirled downwind like eddies in a fast-moving river.
Theodore von Kármán, a Hungarian-American physicist, was the first to describe the physical processes that create long chains of spiral eddies like the ones shown above. Known as von Kármán vortices, the patterns can form nearly anywhere that fluid flow is disturbed by an object. In this case, the unique flow occurs as winds streamed around Mawson Peak. As winds were diverted around the mountain, the disturbance in the flow propagated downstream in the form of vortices that alternate their direction of rotation.
Often, von Kármán vortices form relatively straight lines of eddies; in this case, powerful southerly winds appear to be pushing the vortices northward. You can view the scene on the Worldview browser to get a broader view of the vortices trailing north.
