  • EXCLUSIVE: The dense population of Cape fur seals July 27, 2017 at this time of year attracts the seal's main predator, the flying Great White Shark. Seal Island and the adjacent waters provide rare opportunities for those who wish to witness attacks by White Sharks on the Cape Fur Seal and to observe social interactions amongst creatures of both species. The island is well known for the way the sharks ambush their prey: a shark launching an attack will come up from underneath and often hurl itself out of the water with the seal in its jaws. It has been shown that if the seals enter the "Ring of Death" (where the sharks circle the island) on the surface instead of at the murky bottom, they are more likely to be picked off by the faster and more aggressive Great White Shark. All pictures from an ongoing project by British photographer Dan Callister. 27 Jul 2017 Pictured: Great white Shark breaching at sunrise in Mossel Bay, South Africa. • June 27, 2009 - Orange River, South Africa - PRINCE HARRY and CHELSY DAVY vacationing on the Orange River. While last month's tabloids were speculating that Harry and Chelsy were over for good, snaps from the couple's recent Zambian holiday showed them as happy as they were on the Orange River in November 2006. On that four-day, 60 km canoe adventure, as these never before published photos show, it looked like the couple are destined to be together forever. Out there on the river that snakes through a remote, unforgiving desert landscape on South African's Namibian border, Harry and Chelsy paddled and partied with a group of her closest friends. He let his hair down enough to try snorting rum out of a bottle top. And in those long hours alone in a canoe with Chelsy, he was simply the bloke she fell in love with two years earlier; the romantic who would later write, ''You are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. You must have been the big man upstairs' first creation!! The Orange River undoubtedly left an indelible impression on the young prince who, a few weeks later, revealed to a friend that he was mourning Africa and his girl like crazy. ''Of ALL the things in the world right now that I wanna be doing,'' he wrote, ''being with my girl anywhere in Africa would top absolutely everything. Drifting underneath the blue carpet, talking shit to each other without a single person, soul or noise for miles and miles! Then as the sun goes to rest and turns the sky orange, to be snuggled up in a bed roll, under the stars, with all the time in the world to do whatever the fuck we wanted!'' • August 2, 2017 - inconnu - Mini-robots could help keep fashions changing – while still being worn.Tiny droids which stick to clothes and move over them changing the pattern or design have been revealed by researchers.Project Kino is a collaborative effort with designers from London's Royal College of Art and technicians from two US universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford. The research explores ways these wearables could open up new aesthetic and functional clothing possibilities. The tiny robots can navigate over a person's clothes through a magnetic drive system. The magnet underneath the fabric holds the robot in place while the device itself can be controlled either autonomously or by the wearer. Project Kino has been investigating ways the wearable robotic technology could be applied. From an aesthetic perspective, the devices can act as pattern-changing devices, shifting around a wearer's chest to create moving geometric effects. They could also be used as moving jewellery, with several bots creating different shapes and designs depending on the wearer's preferences.Other aesthetic experiments involve etching patterns that leave visible tracks on fabrics such as velvet. They could also be used to create shape-changing garments that can morph into different forms.Functionally the robots could also act as on-body microphones or climate-reactive clothing that adapts to the surrounding environment. One of the examples proposed was a robot controlling a scarf or the drawstrings on a hood. The research team has also conducted a series of interviews with people who tried some of the applications to see if it is something there might be a demand for.One of the major outcomes was the suggestion the devices needed further miniaturization. Another was that the system could be used as an intimate communication device for connecting with remotely located loved ones. One of those quizzed said he would be interested in letting the robot be controlle

  • July 13, 2017 - inconnu - Surfers could so be going up in the world – on an electric-powered board that hovers over the water with its own hydrofoil. The board rises above the waves thanks to the hydrofoil allowing the rider to skim the water more efficiently.Riders describe the sensation as “an endless feeling of hovering” The $12,000 USD / £9,270 GBP / € 10.495 Euros eFoil is controlled by a wireless hand controller and the rider's body. The waterproof controller uses Bluetooth connectivity and is designed to float if dislodged from the rider's hands. It has a top speed of 22 knots / 25 mph / 40 kh.It us made by Liftfoils , a company run by American Nick Leason from Puerto Rico.He said:” A lot of people see it for the first time and don’t fully understand how that board is levitating over the water.“The board actually has winged keel underneath it. It’s like a set of wings .“So that set of wings lifts the board out of the water when you have a little bit of speed and that’s what you are surfing or riding on.“It’s pretty amazing if you shift your weight you can turn it and carve it .”The company says you can be travelling at top speed but not hear anything and just feel you are levitating.Leason added that it's a “pretty exciting ride “ at top speed, but his preferred cruising speed is a bit less than that as the ride is “not quite as crazy.”He continued:” It seems like a simple toy but there’s actually lot of components and they are all cutom designed.”The battery is said to be good for between 45 and 55 minutes on full charge.Deliveries will begin in September of this year for US$12,000.The eFoil board will initially be available in two sizes: 168 cm x 71 cm (5 ft 6 in by 28 in) for the standard E1 eFoil, and 152.5 cm x 63.5 cm (5 ft 6 in by 25 in) for the E1 Sport model. Leason said the standard eFoil is more stable with the bigger deck,

  • Brooke Shields looks incredible at 52 as she parades her fit figure in a bikini for a new body-positive swimsuit campaign. The Suddenly Susan star shared the limelight with an array of other women of differing sizes, including stunning plus-size model Ashley Graham, 30, and reality star Angela Simmons, 30, in a campaign for swimsuit brand Swimsuits For All. Brooke disrobes, a white dressing gown slinking over her shoulders, to reveal her bright red bikini underneath while in another frame the actress puts her pedal to the metal while posing in her two-piece while resting up against a convertible car. The mother-of-two shared with people.com that she finally feels good about her body — and confident in a bikini. “Growing up under such scrutiny led me to feel insecure about my looks," shared Brook, who stars in the Swimsuits For All “Power Suit” campaign. “Feeling disconnected from my own body, it took me years to separate the opinions of others from my own. “At 52 years old, I finally feel comfortable and proud of all the hard work I’ve put into my body,” adding that she feels "confident being in my own skin”. Also appearing in the campaign is nurse practitioner Katie Duke and pro swimmer Pat Gallant Charette, who last year became the oldest woman to swim across the English Channel aged 66. 22 May 2018 Pictured: Brooke Shields stars in a the “Power Suit” campaign for swimsuit brand Swimsuits For All; (L-R) nurse practitioner Katie Duke, model Ashley Graham, actress Brook Shields, pro swimmer Pat Gallant Charette and reality TV star Angela Simmons.
