  • New parents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on May 19. And as timing has it, Harry could have the perfect gift for Meghan as her favorite shoe-slipper brand have just released a new collection. Birdies — a brand that makes stylish flats that secretly double-up as slippers has released a new bridal collection in Nordstrom. There are three styles available in both champagne and blush, detailed with crystal embellishments, velvet, and fringe. Meghan was recently spotted wearing a pair of velvet Birdies — a $120 pair of the Starling Flats in black — during her Moroccan tour with Prince Harry back in February. Before that she had worn the same shoes while strolling through the Redwood Treewalk Rotorua during her royal tour in Australia in October last year (2018). Clearly the comfortable flats — which boast super-cushioned soles and quilted lining — were a go-to for then-pregnant Duchess. But Meghan has been a fan of Birdies for years, and back in the day often posted photos of herself wearing them on her now-deleted Instagram account. She was also seen wearing them around Toronto when she first started dating Harry. 14 May 2019 Pictured: Meghan Markle’s favorite shoe-slipper brand Birdies has just released a new Bridal Collection in May, 2019. • Selena Gomez is one stylish traveler in this new photoshoot showcasing her second collection with PUMA. The 26-year-old singer is seen sporting a series of sexy styles, including wet-look hair and in cropped tops that give a flash of her toned tum. The Spring/ Summer 2019 collaboration is inspired by Selena’s rise from her hometown of Grand Prairie, Texas, to her fast-paced life today based in Los Angeles and features two brand-new shoe styles, laidback apparel and travel-ready accessories. According to PUMA, the collection is made for ‘move makers, influenced by the global girl who doesn’t just travel the world, but fearlessly leaves a mark on it’. The brand added: ‘The creative direction was inspired by Selena’s personal style and attitude. She was looking to create pieces that looked amazing, but comfortable enough for everyday use – mixing the energy of sports with the self-expression of street fashion.’ Speaking of the collection, her second with PUMA, Selena said: ‘I’m in love with this collection, because it’s inspired by my life. ‘I obviously wanted to create something that matches my lifestyle and that shows the real me – I’ve said it before, I need something that’s comfortable and flattering, pieces that I can just put on and give the impression it took me hours to plan. ‘My favorite thing about it is that it gives different nods to me, to my history. The graphics show the places that hold a special piece in my heart, my birthday, my tattoos, my identity.’ ***THE COLLECTION*** The collection comes with a couple of brand-new styles, one of them: the SG Slip-On leaves the shoelaces behind and makes way to an easy-to-wear style, launching now in Glitz (white with a sunrise inspired gradient), and Sunrise (a full sunrise inspired gradient on the upper). Furthermore, there are also some silhouettes such as the SG Runner and the Cali. The SG Runner Ice is a relaxed blend of Selena’s personal style and PUMA’s classic court an

  • A urology doctor delivered a baby boy during an eight-hour Air France flight from Paris to New York. Dr Sij Hemal, 27, was moments away from enjoying a glass of champagne in first class when he had to jump into action after 41-year-old passenger Toyin Ogundipe went into labor. Dr Hemal, a second-year urology resident at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, safely delivered the baby — who was named Jake — before tying the umbilical cord with a makeshift surgical clamp… a shoe string. By chance, Dr Hemal had been seated next to a French pediatrician Dr. Susan Shepherd, who was able to help and gave the baby boy a clean bill of health upon delivery. Dr Hemal had been on a day-long journey from New Delhi, India, when the drama unfolded, and was making his way back to the U.S. after attending his best friend’s wedding the day before. “I was pretty tired from jet lag,” Dr Hemal said. “I thought I’d just have a drink and fall asleep. As it turned out, I’m glad I didn’t drink anything.” Ms Ogundipe, a banker who resides between the UK and Nigeria, was traveling with her four-year-old daughter Amy when she suddenly went into labor about midway into the December 17 flight, just as the jet skirted the southern coast of Greenland, 35,000 feet below. An emergency landing would have required a two-hour diversion to a U.S. military base in the Azores Islands, so Dr. Hemal recommended to the pilot they continue to JFK International Airport, which was still four hours away. “Her contractions were about 10 minutes apart, so the pediatrician and I began to monitor her vital signs and keep her comfortable,” Dr Hemal explained. The doctors used instruments and supplies in the flight’s scanty medical kit to routinely check Ms Ogundipe’s vital signs, including blood pressure, oxygen rate and pulse. But within the course of an hour, Toyin’s contractions accelerated; they occurred seven, then five and finally two minutes apart. “T
