  • EXCLUSIVE: SHOCKING IMAGES OF CAPE TOWN’S BONE-DRY DAM WHERE ONCE LOCALS USED TO GO BOATING AND WATER SKIING WITH PIX By Magnus News Agency Shocking images show a bone-dry desert where once boats used to sail on a reservoir as drought continues to ravage South Africa. Theewaterskloof Dam once hosted yacht clubs and water skiing but today not even one vessel could be launched on the parched space. Photographer Dirk Theron visited the starved body of water last week and took these frightening images of the dried-up lake which should supply 40 percent of the water to Cape Town’s four million residents. As Dirk’s pictures show, skeletons of fish and muddy pools are much of what remains of the former 480 million cubic metre capacity site. Last week billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg toured Theewaterskloof as part of his role as UN special Envoy for Climate Action. He warned the reservoir and draught across the Western Cape should act as a wake-up call for the international community on climate change. Despite the drought, which has struck the area for the past few years, government officials in South Africa have been criticised for their handling of the crisis. A ‘Day Zero’ when municipal taps would be turned off has been pushed back from June 4 to July 9 despite chronic shortages continuing. South African Dirk lives just 30 minutes from Theewaterskloof, but said he was stunned by what he found there. He said: “Theewaterskloof dam is one of those places where everybody has a boat and people would go there for the weekend. “A friend of mine used to be a member of the Theewaters sports club, we used to go there all the time water skiing and playing on the water in his boat. “This was a massive, massive body of water. It’s been a few years since last I’ve been there but when I saw it I was shocked to my core. “We all know about the water crisis but standing there and seeing it with your own eyes is so surreal. “I stood on dry ground

  • The Night King from Game Of Thrones was dramatically killed off at the hands of Arya Stark on Sunday’s epic episode. But the man behind the prosthetic mask — Slovakia born stuntman Vladimir Furdik — is now showing his softer side, by doing paid-for birthday shoutouts and personalized videos for fans on a new celebrity app called Cameo. For $100, die-hard fans can get Furdik, 48, to record them a personal video message, mentioning their name or even wishing them happy birthday. As this collection of videos show, the Night King certainly has his endearing, friendly side when not clad in scary prosthetics and with those piercing icy-blue eyes. Furdik reprised the role of Night King in Game Of Thrones in season six, through to the current and last eighth season; the role was previously portrayed by British-American character actor Richard Brake in the fourth and fifth seasons. Furdik also has a slew of other blockbuster credits under his belt, having done stunt work on the likes of Snow White And The Huntsman, Skyfall, Spartacus and Thor. He joined the Cameo app in February of this year, initially charged $55 per video, but almost doubled his fee to $100 on April 12, just two days before the hotly anticipated Game Of Thrones season finale premiere episode. Cameo is a Chicago-based app which launched in 2016 and now has more than 3,500 celebs — from musicians and actors to reality stars — on its books. Celebrities set their own price for making a video, and take the lion’s share of the fee with a 75 per cent cut, the remainder going to Cameo. Customers then have the completed video sent to them directly to keep. • May 16, 2017 - Fort Campbell, Kentucky, U.S. - By taking leave in May instead of April so he could see his little sister graduate from high school, Army Spc. Jesse Thepouhthay missed out on one of his favorite holidays -- New Year. Most Americans generally associate New Year's celebrations with Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. However, Thepouhthay and his family celebrate Laotian New Year in April. The tradition is carried on by his family in his home town in Arkansas. Food is an important part of the celebration, and missing out on spicy papaya salad this year was a bit of a disappointment, Thepouhthay said. Pictured: Army Spc. • Chrissy Teigen sure has specs appeal in this photoshoot to plug her new sunglasses line with Quay Australia. The 33-year-old model and mother-of-two strikes a series of alluring poses in the campaign for the QUAY X CHRISSY line — a full range of blue light glasses and sunglasses, now available online. Quay — which is pronounced ‘key’ — picked Chrissy to be the face of the brand’s global 'Education is Quay' campaign, which clarifies how to say the brand’s name and also puts the blue light filtering glasses center stage. The glasses feature lenses with Blue Light Technology to help block harmful light from digital screens that may cause symptoms such as headaches, blurry vision and loss of sleep, and the prescription-ready frames can be taken to an optometrist to be filled. Quay CEO Jodi Bricker said of the collaboration: ‘We reached out to Chrissy because she's a role model for authentic self-expression, with a huge range of dynamic roles - mother, entrepreneur, philanthropist, comedienne, entertainer - who pays it forward to empower millions of others across the globe.’ Bricker added: ‘When we're looking at partners, it's important to us that we're aligning with people who share the passion and sense of confidence that's so integral to our identity - and Chrissy has mastered that art over the years. We're a brand with a large online presence, and it's our responsibility to foster an open environment of self-expression for our community - online and out in the world.’ As part of the multi-deal partnership, the brand released a new collection - comprised of Quay's best-selling frames in all-new, muted retro tones. The glasses are priced at AUD $60-$70 per pair, putting them in the affordable price bracket. • Chris Hemsworth shared his grueling workout routine in a revealing photoshoot for Men's Health. The Thor actor showed off his bulging biceps on the cover of the fitness mag, which is due to hit US newsstands on February 12. The March edition is also set to go on sale in the UK and Australia. During the photo shoot, which was taken in Byron Bay, Australia, the movie star shared a number of fitness tips. He also recorded a short video detailing his routine, which includes push-ups, battle ropes, medicine ball slams and Russian twists. During an interview with the magazine, he also went on to say that he nearly gave up on acting after missing out on the role of Captain Kirk in 2009's Star Trek. He said" “I was about to quit. I always wanted to act, and one of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents’ house off. I’d asked Dad once when he thought he’d pay it off and he said, “Honestly, probably never.” I wanted to change that. So I was super active with auditions. And then my mentality changed, which came from being at a point where I was like, “I’m going to go back to Australia.” I had one more audition where I was like, “Do this for his house. Think about reasons other than yourself.” That was for The Cabin in the Woods, and I got that job, and from there I got Red Dawn. Justing could be seen, on his first day of filming, wearing overalls and a cap, with a large scar above his eye, while taking his on-screen 'step-son' to the store. • Game Of Thrones stunner Nathalie Emmanuel is the latest girl squad member to sign up with Reebok — and marked the occasion by showing off her athletic physique in the brand’s new Women’s Training Collection. The 29-year-old former Hollyoaks star — who is now world famous thanks to her role as Missandei in HBO’s Game Of Thrones — showed off her taut tum in a pair of high-waisted mesh leggings teamed with a bra, bomber jacket and a pair of Reebok Freestyle Hi Muted trainers. Nathalie is the latest powerful female star to join the brand as a spokesperson and model, with others including Gigi Hadid, Ariana Grande and Gal Gadot. Reebok will unite Emmanuel with these other influential stars to lead a female-first campaign that will launch later in 2018. Speaking of the collaboration, Nathalie said: “I am driven by the idea that all women are not defined by a single trait. We are individuals with strengths, talents and beliefs that define us and shape who we are as humans. “This new partnership with Reebok is founded upon shared passion and synergy with individuality. Together, we are passionate about an agenda that spotlights the individual abilities of women and propels their stories forward.” “Physical, mental and social integration are the core of Reebok’s brand ethos, and I truly see the virtue in a healthy body and mind to take the traits that make us special and use them to their fullest potential.” In the campaign photos Emmanuel models Reebok’s latest Women’s Training Collection, including Reebok Mesh Bomber Jacket, Reebok Nature X Seamless Bra, Reebok Nature X High Waisted Legging and Reebok Freestyle Hi Muted. 10 May 2018 Pictured: Game Of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel models the new Reebok Women’s Training Collection after being announced as new spokesperson and model for the brand on May 9, 2018. But in a newly-unearthed video from September 2016 — just a couple of months before she started dating Prince Harry — the soon-to-be blushing bride is seen applying her own make-up in the back of an Uber. In the video Meghan jumps into the back of an Uber with make-up mogul Bobbi Brown, who gives her a mini-tutorial, talking her through how to use the brand’s Retouching Pencils and Retouching Wands. While giving out tips, Bobbi asks Meghan, 36, what she has planned for the day ahead — and the American actress, who was on hiatus from filming USA Network show Suits at the time, said she had a meeting with producers about a potential film role. The video was filmed as part of a collaboration between Uber and Bobbi Brown back in September 2016. On May 19, Meghan will be swapping the backseat of an Uber for that of a royal carriage when she weds Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
