  • EXCLUSIVE: You ORCA look behind you, this incredible photo shows a diver seemingly just yards from a feeding killer whale. Norwegian teacher Svein Aasjord, 44, his wife, and three boys, live in a fjord called Kaldfjord, in northern Norway close to the city of Tromsø - 217 miles north of the Arctic Circle. As well as living in one of the stunning coastal inlets Norway is famous for, the Aasjord family also live in one which is a popular hunting channel for whales feeding on herring. Each winter millions and millions of herring feed along the Norwegian coast in rich cold-water currents. Heading north to meet them is one the largest gatherings of orca and humpback whales on earth ready to feast on the bounty. In open water the whales stand little chance against the fast-moving shoals of herring, but by herding the tiny fish into fjords the whales create hundreds of ‘bait balls’ trapping the fish at the surface before going in for the kill. Sometimes the Aasjord family’s local Kaldfjord can be literally full of herring and large numbers of orca and humpbacks hunting them. The action has been so close to the house that Svein has been able to take photographs from inside his own property. These stunning photographs are just some Svein has been able to take over the years, including some breath-taking shots of his friends SWIMMING with the hunting orcas. Svein said: “All the people that have seen that picture tell me ‘he’s going to die in the next moment’. “I shouted to my friend ‘look over here’, because I wanted him to be looking at me when one of the big males was behind him. The whale of course was not up for the diver at all, he was just up for air. “The diver is a friend of mine, he and his girlfriend are experienced divers, they are not professional divers but they dive all the time. “We shut off the engine, as I am very strict when it comes to not disturbing the whales because they are feeding and I don’t want to interfere with their live

  • A set of one-year-old conjoined twins who had been sharing part of their hearts have been successful separated following a mammoth seven-hour operation. Anna and Hope Richards were separated at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Texas, it was announced this week, by a multidisciplinary 75-strong team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists and nurses. The girls were delivered via C-section on 29 December, 2016, at 35 weeks gestation, weighing a combined 9lbs 12oz (4.4kg) and were conjoined at their chest and abdomen, through the length of their torso and shared the chest wall, pericardial sac (lining of the heart), diaphragm and liver. In addition they had large blood vessels connecting their hearts. The twins are now recovering at the hospital and are expected to be strong enough to go home in about a month’s time. “We've thought about and prayed for this day for almost two years,” their mother Jill Richards said, who welcomed the girls along with her husband Michael and their sons Collin and Seth. “It's an indescribable feeling to look at our girls in two separate beds.” The epic surgery was carried out on January 13 and involved planning and preparation before the girls were even born. In November last year, aged 11 months, the twins underwent a surgical procedure to place tissue expanders to allow their skin to grow and stretch ready for their separation. Dr. Larry Hollier, surgeon-in-chief and chief of plastic surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, said: “The success of this incredibly complex surgery was the result of our dedicated team members’ hard work throughout the last year. “Through simulations and countless planning meetings, we were able to prepare for situations that could arise during the separation. “We are thrilled with the outcome and look forward to continuing to care for Anna and Hope as they recover.” The Richards family, from North Texas, learned Jill was carrying conjoined twins during a routine ultrasound. • EXCLUSIVE: Justin Timberlake takes on the role of Janitor as he starts filming for his new movie 'Palmer'. Justing could be seen, on his first day of filming, wearing overalls and a cap, with a large scar above his eye, while taking his on-screen 'step-son' to the store. He was also spotted giving acting tips to the little budding actor as they filmed their first scenes together. Justin was spotted driving a car before picking up a violin from the post office, and could also be seen being instructed by by director Fisher Stevens. In the movie, Justin is an ex high school football star, gets a scholarship to a big school, gets injured, gets addicted to pain killers. This is all backstory," Fisher explains elevator pitch-style. "Comes back home, thrown out of school and gets into a lot of trouble, tries to rob a very rich family in town, gets caught, attempted manslaughter. "He's getting out of jail 10 years later, comes to live with his grandmother. Next door is a beautiful 30-year-old woman who's a meth addict, who has an eight-year-old boy, who likes to play with dolls and dress up as a girl in red state America. Justin's grandmother is co-parenting this boy with the meth addict mom who is always off trying to cop dope.” Palmer,” written by Cheryl Guerriero, is about a former college football phenomenon who, after a stint in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back on track. There, he faces not only lingering conflicts from his past but also a much more surprising challenge as he finds himself suddenly in charge of a unique young boy who has been abandoned by his wayward mother. 06 Nov 2019 Pictured: Justin Timberlake. • EXCLUSIVE: The Eden Eoc hotel in St Bart’s, owned by David Matthews. Matthews left St Barth’s last Monday, March 26, taking a connecting flight to the neighboring French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, and then on to Paris, where he was arrested. Although his main home is a luxury villa in the grounds of the family-owned Eden Rock, Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law has not been spending as much time as usual in the West Indies because the hotel, and most homes on the island, were devastated by last September’s Hurricane Irma. “The hotel was devastated, and most of the villas in its grounds were damaged to a certain degree,” said a local. “Before Irma, David would spend most of his time on the island but, since the hurricane, he has been back and forth to keep an eye on the building work. “Large parts of the island still have no internet or telephone lines, and getting things back to normal is a massive project. “David is a popular guy in these parts. Everyone knows him and he’s always polite and friendly. This news has come as a massive shock to us all.” The hotel is currently undergoing a massive rebuilding project, and though scheduled to reopen later this year, it’s thought unlikely it will be ready before early 2019. Matthews and wife Jane bought the hotel, which is a favourite of the rich and famous, in September 1995. It was purchased from legendary island aviator and local adventurer Rémy de Haenen. Today it’s one of the most exclusive hotel in the world, with Beyonce, Elton John, Bono, Brad Pitt, the Kardashians and Leonardo DiCaprio, among its celebrity clientele. Its priciest suite costs £25,000 a night. 31 Mar 2018 Pictured: The Eden Eoc hotel in St Bart’s. Photo credit: MEGA TheMegaAgency.com +1 888 505 6342

  • NO WEB/NO APPS - (Text available) Carlos, a 34-year-old bricklayer says: 'On the one hand the construction of the wall is a good thing because it limits the invasions. I would like the State installing basic services like water and sewage. I have the constant fear that they could evict me and my family, so I would like to have a title of ownership, in Lima, Peru in May 2017. In Peru’s capital Lima, a three-meter-high concrete wall topped with reels of razor wire separates two areas. The so-called ‘Wall of Shame’ - sometimes nicknamed 'Peru's Berlin Wall' - divides the urbanisation of Las Casuarinas, where some of the country's richest inhabitants live, and the poor suburb of Vista Hermosa next door. It was initially put up over fears that the inhabitants from the poor neighbourhood would steal from wealthy fellow citizens living nearby. On the rich side of the wall, the price for a square meter can exceed 2,000 dollars. To enter the area, you must show your ID to the guards watching the gate at the bottom of the hill. Former high-ranking politicians and bank directors live here. Their houses are surrounded by lush gardens and swimming pools despite the scarcity of water. Meanwhile, on the San Juan de Miraflores side, residents often fall victim to robbery and theft. They live in houses of barely 25m², made from scrap material, surrounded by the sand and earth characteristic of Lima’s desert landscape. Photo by Giacomo D’Orlando/ABACAPRESS.COM
