• EXCLUSIVE: SILVER SCREEN - MEET THE HUSBAND AND WIFE COUPLE WHO RETIRED AND DECIDED TO BECOME MOVIE STARS WITH PIX By Magnus News Agency Meet the husband and wife who decided when they retired to try something new in life - so they became MOVIE STARS. Gilbert Newton, 73, and wife Joy, 63, have been married since 1978 but never once imagined they’d be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood greats in their golden years. The couple have worked on nearly 100 films, TV shows, commercials and promotions since signing up to become extras. Far from slowing down, now one or the other of the pair is usually working on something seven days a week and they can be up at 4am to travel to location for filming. Gilbert, a former sales executive, and Joy, a former teacher, from London, say they both love their new jobs so much they don’t have any time for the usual hobbies of retirement. Gilbert has appeared on screen in films such as Genius, Florence Foster Jenkins and Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Joy has graced screens on the biggest show on earth appearing in American football Super Bowl advert in 2017. Gilbert said: “The first film I went for was Genius with Colin Firth and Jude Law. The agent gave me the details and booked me there and I arrived. “It’s was a completely new experience and nothing like I’d done before, but people were very nice, I’ve worked with nice people in the past but in a different industry, and with the extra work everyone is nice to you and saying you look good on screen and that sort of thing. “And I was featured in the film, I didn’t realise at first, but this was my first film and I got some screen time. “Jude Law and Colin Firth were the actors on the day, we stand pretty close to each other in a lot of the scenes. We’re not supposed to go up and speak to the actors because they’ve got things going on in their head and they don’t want to be distracted. “It was in a nightclub supposed to be in New York, but it was in London som

 • Sports photographer and surfer, Brad Whittaker, has captured the beautiful sight of surfers and group of Humpback whales sharing the waters together at a reef break in Cronulla, Sydney on Sunday morning. Brad was in a Seadoo watercraft when the whales started to approach the surfers and swam up to them very close.

“It is not uncommon to see a variety of marine life in this area and especially whales at this time of year, however, they don’t always come this close to surf zone” said Brad.

Though some of the surfers were a little shocked at first, they were also very excited by the close encounter. One surfer even slid off his board and swam underwater in an attempt to watch the whales swim past.

"They were very calm, the is part of their annual migration and they were in no distress at all. Just cruising up the coast" said Brad.

One of the surfers amongst the crowd, Harry Engle, said: “You don’t realise how big they really are until you are up close to them. It was quite distracting as we were out there trying to catch waves but watching the whales swim past was far more interesting”.

 • August 7, 2017 - inconnu - Ice cream that does not melt has been created by scientists in Japan. The ice cream retains its original shape in 28°C (82.4 F) weather and is said to still taste cool.A strawberry extract stops the oil and water from separating quickly which means the ice-cream stays frozen. The desert was first created by mistake by a pastry chef looking to make use of odd-shaped strawberries which could not be sold. The initiative was part of efforts by the company to help strawberry farmers affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. The chef trued to create a new confectionary using the strawberries. The cream would solidify when put in contact with the strawberry extract polyphenol. At first this was thought to be a problem .But then the scientists at Japan’s C realised it could be used to stop ice creams melting. Tomihisa Ota, a professor at Kanazawa University who helped develop the lollies said: “ Polyphenol liquid has properties to make it difficult for water and oil to separate.“So a popsicle containing it will be able to retain the original shape of the cream for a longer time than usual, and be hard to melt'. The ice creams, which are only for sale in parts of Japan, first hit stores in Kanazawa in April before rolling out in Osaka and Tokyo.According to Takeshi Toyoda, president of the Biotherapy Development Research Centre, the ice cream remains 'almost the same even if exposed to the hot air from a dryer'.There is no word when the ice cream popsicles , called Kanazawa Ice , will be available outside Japan. # DES GLACES QUI NE FONDENT PAS (Credit Image: © Visual via ZUMA Press)

The Brit is now in Bogota’s infamous La Picota prison after signing a ‘pre-agreement’ to accept a sentence of 14 years and eight months in return for co-operating with authorities to "name names.' Deamer, originally from Barrow upon Soar, Leics, ran a syndicate that converted at least 2.5 tons of cocaine into a substance that resembled dog food, down to the look, smell and texture, say Colombian authorities. He was snared by anti-narcotics agents backed up by Colombian army and navy troops. Deamer is seen climbing down from his attic bolt-hole after being busted in a dramatic 6am raid by Colombian forces. Wearing shorts and T-shirt, he had darted into the secret hideaway after realising anti-narcotics agents and army and navy troops were closing in on his remote farmhouse.
