  • Dame Joans Collins takes to the high seas and dons a captain’s hat in a new comical ad campaign for mobile phone network Three. The 86-year-old actress and Hollywood icon calls on phone customers to ‘ditch and switch’ their phone network to mark an industry-wide change in the UK allowing mobile users to change networks by sending a simple free text. The ad draws on five-times-married Collins’s vast dating experience to encourage viewers to take control and not stay in an ‘unsatisfactory relationship’. The Golden Globe star is seen living the high life on-board a yacht in sunny St Tropez, with playful nods towards the benefits of choosing ‘the one’, before she turns to the camera to say: ‘I’ve never settled for anyone or anything which didn’t float my boat… ‘It’s now easier than ever to switch. So darling if they’re not satisfying you, then just... ghost them. So, take control - ditch and switch to Three.’ Speaking about the campaign, Collins said: ‘Having been married a few times, I can tell you now that staying with someone just to be in a relationship won’t make you happy. ‘It took me a long time to find ‘the one’ because I was never ever going to settle for second best. The relationship you have with your mobile network shouldn’t be any different – when you start to feel unloved, dissatisfied and you can’t see past those niggles, it’s time to move on, darling.’ Launching on 2 July, mobile customers can get the code they need to switch networks by simply sending a free text message – rather than having to call their current provider – and can switch mobile networks in just one working day. To mark this, Three is offering new and upgrading customers six months half price line rental, on its Unlimited tariff (24 month Advanced Plan). This offer is available now until 22 August, on a range of handsets, Home, Tablet and SIM only plans. For example, a 24-month SIM-only Advanced Plan with unlimited data, calls

  • EXCLUSIVE: A THIRD lion pride has been brutally butchered in a MONTH in South Africa by evil poachers who hacked off their heads and paws and stole them to be used to make black magic potions. Distraught owner Menno Parsons, 46, was broken the news that his male lion Tau, 10, and four lionesses had been fed chicken carcasses laced with poison causing them an agonising death. Menno - one of the top air display pilots in South Africa - owns Sunward Ranch which provided lion experiences for underprivileged children near the town of Brits in Limpopo Province. On Tuesday night a gang of poachers threw poisoned chickens over the two electrified fences and waited for the predators to eat them and suffer for up to 30 minutes until all his five lions were dead. Then they cut their way through the fences and using machetes hacked off the heads or jaws of the majestic lions to steal their teeth and hacked off 20 paws and stole them for use in “muti”. Traditional witch doctors or healers use the body parts to make potions known as "muti" for local customers or the body parts are smuggled to the Far East and sold for vast amounts to dealers. Divorced father-of-three Menno said : “When you get the phone call telling you that your lions have not just been killed by poachers but have been butchered I tell you nothing prepares you. “I fly helicopters on anti-poaching patrols and go after poachers who are on the run to help out the police and security agencies but you never actually expect it is going to happen to you. “I have looked after lions for 10 years and they are like a family to me. I am not afraid of these poachers and I have got guys with me and we will be going out there looking for them” he said. Along with head of the pride Tau, 10, his four lionesses were killed sisters Tana and Jade, both 5, and Zuri and Nala, both 3. The animal park owner also flies a World War 2 P51 mustang and a Douglas DC3 airline and two Huey helicopters and is one of the most popular

  • July 31, 2017 - inconnu - Robots are to make room service deliveries at a hotel.A Silicon Valley based company, named Savioke, is developing autonomous indoor delivery robots that are expected to change the hospitality industry. The robot, named Relay, will be able to deliver food and snacks to guests.Japan’s Prince Hotel chain has become the first to sign up to give Relay a try. The chain will start the trails at its Shinagawa Prince property in Minato-ku, Tokyo from October 2017.Relay is fully autonomous and capable of steering itself to the set location while avoiding obstacles. The delivery robot can also board elevators without human assistance. The robot has a hinged lid and a touch-pad screen with two electronic , expressive “eyes”.When a guest requests something from reception, a member of staff opens Relay’s lid and places the order inside. They then use the touch pad to enter the room number. The robot is then able to be guided to the correct location. On arrival at the room, the guest gets a phone call to say Relay is outside. The guest removes the order and the robot then returns to a docking station for its battery to be recharged.Price Hotel plans to accumulate data through the trails and start using Relay by 2019. Savioke CEO Steve Cousins said:” We make robots for the service industry, robots that can move around by themselves and help people out.”A rabid drop in sensor prices due to the plethora of smart phones means that the robots can be made relatively cheaply despite advance technology.Cousins added that deciding where to put a robot was easy.He added:” First use cases are really simply.“You are staying at a hotel, you need a toothbrush or shaving kit or your are hungry.“You call down to the front desk and say can I have a toothbrush, for example, and the person at the front desk gets a toothbrush and puts it in , types the room number and robot goes off on its own.“When it gets to your r

  • July 3, 2017 - Mugla, Turkey - July 3, 2017, Marmaris, Turkey - A Turkish commercial ship named 'ACT' approaches to dock on Aegean coast of western Turkey's Mugla province on July 03, 2017 as a Turkish Coastal Guard boat escorts after Greek coastal guard boats allegedly opened fire on it. The Greek coast guard fired bullets at a Turkey-flagged freighter in the Aegean Sea on July 3 after it refused to obey calls from the Greek authorities to stop at a Greek port, the captain of the ship has said. Haluk Sami Kalkavan , the captain of the ship, M/V ACT, told private broadcaster CNN Türk in a phone call that Greek coast guard boats fired shots on the ship around three miles off the island of Rhodes.Kalkavan said the Greek coast guard instructed him to approach the Rhodes port in international waters but he refused to obey the call and briefed the Turkish side of the situation. The coast guard then fired shots in the direction of the ship as it was heading to Turkish territorial waters, he added, noting that there were 16 bullet holes in the ship. He also said the freighter was now in Turkish waters bound for Marmaris and was not at risk of taking on water. The Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement that one assault boat and two coast guard boats immediately dispatched to scene after Greek coastguards fired at cargo ship. The Greek Coast Guard said it tried to stop the vessel following ''an anonymous telephone complaint'' that it was carrying narcotics. It said the ship was in Greek waters. Sir Tom, who returned to our TV screens last week as a judge on the latest series of The Voice UK, did not even publicly admit to having a second child until 2008, despite DNA tests proving his paternity. The former coal miner from Pontypridd in South Wales was 47 when he had a three-day fling with aspiring model Katherine Berkery, 24, after meeting her in a New York nightclub in October 1987. The married star invited her to watch his show the next night, after which they had dinner together before heading back to his suite at Manhattan’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Three months later, after Katherine had discovered she was pregnant, she phoned his office only to be told by an aide: ‘That’s showbiz, darling. Do what you have to do.’ Baby Jonathan was born on June 27, 1988, but Sir Tom, who has admitted sleeping with up to 250 women a year at the height of his fame, denied the child was his until a judge ordered him to undergo a DNA test which proved otherwise. He was subsequently ordered to pay £1,700-a-month for Jon’s upkeep for the first 18 years of his life, a drop in the ocean given his vast wealth — he is worth around £155 million. But despite paying up, Sir Tom made it clear that he wanted nothing else to do with his offspring. ‘It wasn’t something I had planned,’ said Sir Tom when he finally spoke about the matter in 2008. ‘If I had planned it, I would have done something more than just financially. But it wasn’t. I just fell for it. I just fell for the seduction.’ ‘I’d like to talk to him about normal stuff, like: “How’s your life been? This is mi

  • May 4, 2019 - Greding, Bavaria, Germany - Lawyer Dubravko Mandic looking at the camera outside of an event by the extreme-right flank of the AfD called ''der Fluegel''. Mandic is now the subject of national attention for aggressively approaching journalists and filing criminal complaints against them. Die right-extremist flank of the Alternative for Germany party known as “der Fluegel” (“The Wing”) appeared in Greding, near Nuremburg in Bavaria. Appearing with the group was Bjoern Hoecke, Benjamin Nolte, Bernhard Zimniok and Christina Baum. Due to connections to the right-extremist spectrum and efforts against democracy, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Verfassungsschutz, Secret Service) escalated the group to preliminary monitoring ahead of possible formal monitoring. Participants, including right-radical Dubravko Mandic of the AfD in Freiburg aggressively approached and harassed journalists on the scene, with him taking the phone away of one. Later, after calls to take the cameras from journalists, two attacked a journalist. Mandic has posted about “the great exchange” referencing such theories by white supremacists who committed shootings, such as in Christ Church. (Credit Image: © Sachelle Babbar/ZUMA Wire)
