  • A total eclipse swept through the tiny town of Spring City, Tennessee on Monday afternoon. Thousands from all over the United States and a few from around the world flocked to the city with a population of under 2,000 (according to the 2010 census). The city is situated dead-center of the path of totality of the eclipse, providing a spectacular view and one of the longest durations of totality (over 2 minutes). There were no dedicated parking areas or viewing spots, so cars simply pulled into the town and parked wherever they could, lining up in rows down the streets and along the railroad tracks that run through the town. Local businesses were thriving with the influx, and many were sold out of ‘eclipse merchandise’ such as t-shirts within hours and were taking online orders for people who missed their chance to purchase a t-shirt on the spot. Eric Henson, manager at the Movie Depot, a movie-rental store, still had a few t-shirts and said his store was ‘doing great’ with all the new business. Another local resident, Amanda Gornik, came out to sell painted rocks that she decorated on the spot with eclipse images or anything a customer asked for. 21 Aug 2017 Pictured: Total eclipse in Spring City, Tennessee. • Meet the mother duck who every year gives birth to her chicks in a hospital before parading them down the hallways. Once a year, every year, the patients at the continuing care unit of the University of Rochester's Thompson Health hospital, in Canandaigua, New York, are treated to this adorable sight. The local duck returns every spring to the same courtyard in the middle of the hospital to lay her eggs. Amazingly, the cunning bird has even learned to knock on the doors to be allowed into the building to get to her favorite nesting spot. Then without fail, once her chicks have hatched, she marches them through the hospital back to the surrounding woodland. To the delight of the patients, the little ducks can be seen following their mom throughout the hospital’s hallways, out the door, and into a grassy area behind the facility. The duck follows the same path every year, and facility services staff use old signage to guide her and the ducklings through the halls gently. Amazingly, despite it being an annual occurrence, this is the first time staff has attempted to document the adorable "rite of spring". A statement released by care staff said: “Every year, without fail, a mama duck chooses one of the enclosed courtyards at our M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center to lay her eggs and take care of her babies. She lets us know when she’s ready to go by tapping on the glass, and this morning, it was time for this annual rite of spring.”. 21 May 2019 Pictured: Adorable mother duckling walks her chicks through a New York hospital every year. • Sir Richard Branson emerged unscathed from Hurricane Irma after bunkering down in his wine cellar on his private Caribbean island. However Branson’s Necker Island and surrounding areas of the British Virgin Islands were left devastated by the hurricane - the largest ever recorded on the Atlantic Ocean. The Virgin Group mogul previously explained that his Necker compound had been built with reinforced hurricane blinds, designed to withstand huge winds. Taking to Instagram on Thursday [September 7], the day after the hurricane hit, Branson wrote: “All of the team who stayed on Necker and Moskito during the hurricane are safe and well. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricane #Irma in the BVI & Caribbean. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Urge all in its path to seek strong shelter & stay safe. Necker & whole area has been completely devastated.” Earlier on Wednesday [September 6] before Irma hit, Branson shared photos on social media of his team smiling and bedded down in a room. “Expecting full force in about 4 hours, we'll retreat into a concrete wine cellar under the house. Wonderful team calm and upbeat,” Branson wrote in a social media post. Irma is currently barreling towards the U.S. and is set to wreak more devastation. It is expected to make landfall Sunday [September 10] morning in South Florida. 08 Sep 2017 Pictured: Richard Branson shared photos of himself and his team bunkering down at his compound on his privately owned Caribbean island, Necker, as Hurricane Irma approached. • April 12, 2018 - Sao Paulo, Brazil - Ibovespa, the main index of the Sao Paulo stock market closed Has Slight Bullishness on 12 April 2018. The dollar traded with slight swings against the real on Thursday after US President Donald Trump lowered the tone of his threats by stating that an attack on Syria could not be so imminent. Contained items were also seen on the Ibovespa, which gained some respite with the decrease of geopolitical tensions abroad, while the local political scene continued to arouse caution. The rates of most interest rate futures contracts, however, declined, after new and weak economic data consolidated the path of a new interest rate cut by the BankCentral and with the quieter exterior. US stock markets were advancing in line with expectations that US tax reform would boost corporate profits and relief from nervousness over eventual US military conflict with Russia in Syria.
