  • SRI LANKA (Aug. 28, 2018) The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and embarked U.S. Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) conduct a passing exercise (PASSEX) with the Sri Lanka navy while on a scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th MEU, Aug. 28, 2018. Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU conducted a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan navy.  Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. 7th Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region. More than 65 young men and women entering their freshman year of the NROTC program participated in a two-week pilot program designed to provide standardized entry-level militarization and prepare new NROTC midshipmen with a common training orientation. Glenn was assigned to the USS Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941, which sustained fire from Japanese aircraft. The ship capsized after multiple torpedo hits, resulting in the deaths of more than 429 crew members at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor. Glenn is the 100th Oklahoma sailor identified through DNA analysis with the help of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
