  • January 2, 2018 - inconnu - Car giant Ford is to provide assembly line workers with powered exoskeletons to make their work easier. The EksoVest will provide the user with between 2.26 kilos and 6.8 kilos / 5lbs and15lbs of lift assistance, ideal for any action required under the vehicle. Some of these activities might include pushing in fastener rivets, snapping fuel lines into place or simply using any drill or impact drivers or torque wrenches. The vests , made of carbon fibre and steel tubing, are being supplied by US company Ekso Bionics in a pioneering partnership with Ford.A spokesman for Ekso Bionics said:” The physical demands of repetitive overhead work takes its toll on workers. “Some workers on the assembly line lift their arms an average of 4,600 times per day, or about 1 million times per year, increasing the possibility of fatigue or injury.“That’s where the EksoVest comes in. “Ford and Ekso Bionics partnered to explore how the upper body exoskeleton that elevates and supports a worker’s arms can help.By reducing the strain on a worker’s body, they feel better at the end of every day, the likelihood of sustaining injury is reduced.Jobs get completed to a higher level of quality, in a shorter amount of time, increasing both productivity and morale.Ford tested the EksoVest in two U.S. plants. As a result, use of the EksoVest will be expanded to plants in other regions, including Europe and South America.Ekso Bionics is headquartered in a former ford factory in California which opened in 1931 and was the largest auto assembly plant on the West Coast. Ekso Bionics co-founder Russ Angold said:” Collaboratively working with Ford enabled us to test and refine early prototypes of the EksoVest based on insights directly from their production line workers. “The end result is a wearable tool that reduces the strain on a worker’s body, reducing the likelihood of injury, and helping them feel better at

  • April 27, 2017 - MüNchen, Bayern, Germany - Employees of Munich-based, multi-national industrial gas giant Linde AG (Ling De) have launched protests and marches in numerous cities throughout Germany against the planned merger between Linde AG and US competitor Praxair (PX.n). The employees and unions fear elimination of positions and reduced control over their affairs. Linde Supervisory Board Chairman Wolfgang Reitzle has been embattled for several months over the deal, which would create a $30 billion market leader and have a $1 billion synergy target, , but mounting crises also include an investigation of Reitzle by BaFin, Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, for potential insider trading that revolved around this merger. Despite no involvement whatsoever by Trump, anti-Trump rhetoric was abound, as was anti-American rhetoric as an prominent angle of their resistance to this deal. Ironically, despite citing “America First” at one point, the rest appeared to be “Germany First” rhetoric for non-acceptance of the merger. The unions and workers alluded that if a merger is ratified, they would not be cooperative..Praxair has provided assurances to Linde regarding maintainance of jobs and corporate climate and governance after early rounds of negotiations fell through over these issues. IG Metall spokespeople have indicated that the assurances don’t resolve all the grievances. Steve Angel, Praxair CEO, released a video in January that assured his employees would be in charge. Praxair has approximately double the profitability of Linde. The video has since been filed with the US SEC. (Credit Image: © Sachelle Babbar via ZUMA Wire)

  • EXCLUSIVE: SILVER SCREEN - MEET THE HUSBAND AND WIFE COUPLE WHO RETIRED AND DECIDED TO BECOME MOVIE STARS WITH PIX By Magnus News Agency Meet the husband and wife who decided when they retired to try something new in life - so they became MOVIE STARS. Gilbert Newton, 73, and wife Joy, 63, have been married since 1978 but never once imagined they’d be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood greats in their golden years. The couple have worked on nearly 100 films, TV shows, commercials and promotions since signing up to become extras. Far from slowing down, now one or the other of the pair is usually working on something seven days a week and they can be up at 4am to travel to location for filming. Gilbert, a former sales executive, and Joy, a former teacher, from London, say they both love their new jobs so much they don’t have any time for the usual hobbies of retirement. Gilbert has appeared on screen in films such as Genius, Florence Foster Jenkins and Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Joy has graced screens on the biggest show on earth appearing in American football Super Bowl advert in 2017. Gilbert said: “The first film I went for was Genius with Colin Firth and Jude Law. The agent gave me the details and booked me there and I arrived. “It’s was a completely new experience and nothing like I’d done before, but people were very nice, I’ve worked with nice people in the past but in a different industry, and with the extra work everyone is nice to you and saying you look good on screen and that sort of thing. “And I was featured in the film, I didn’t realise at first, but this was my first film and I got some screen time. “Jude Law and Colin Firth were the actors on the day, we stand pretty close to each other in a lot of the scenes. We’re not supposed to go up and speak to the actors because they’ve got things going on in their head and they don’t want to be distracted. “It was in a nightclub supposed to be in New York, but it was in London som

  • EXCLUSIVE: An epic clash of the titans has been caught on camera which saw one angry rhino mum scare off 15 ELEPHANTS Carpenter Martin Meyer was visiting a national park in South Africa when he spotted a rhino mum with her young calf. Martin has been visiting the park for 20 years on and off and often drives there for a ‘builder’s break’ between jobs. But never in all the years he’s been visiting had he seen anything like this before, when one rhino mum faced-off against a whole herd of elephants. Martin’s amazing images were taken around 4.20pm when he came across the brewing confrontation. Martin, who is not naming the park to protect the rhino mother, said: “Armed with an incredibly beautiful horn and her motherly instinct the mother rhino stood her ground and protected the calf, although she was completely outnumbered by the elephants. “A herd of about 15 elephants consisting of a matriarch and a few youngsters and a few sub adult bulls were approaching and going to cross the path of the mum and the calf. “The rhino mum looked intently in their direction and the ellies seemed oblivious to her and the calf and kept encroaching on her personal space. “When they were around 20 metres away from her position she exploded into a sprint with the baby following and ran directly towards the elephants sending them scattering in all directions, with a massive cloud of dust as a result. “After recovering from the initial shock the elephant herd regrouped and aligned themselves next to one another to slowly move closer to the rhino mum, almost taunting her. Some of the young bulls even moved around and circled them from behind.” More than three minutes of stand-off followed as the stare down continued between the rhino mother and the matriarch of the ellies. Martin said: “My adrenaline was pumping and I was holding my breath for what might happen next, my wife always jokes with me that I stop breathing when I see special stuff in the bush. “As the d

  • EXCLUSIVE: Sella McCartney has infuriated her neighbours in The Hamptons by building a 5ft high sea wall that blocks her community’s decades-old private access to its beach. The fashion designer and husband Alasdhair (correct) Willis paid $1.7million for their three-bedroom ocean front home and adjoining land three years ago. But erosion is claimed to have destroyed 40 feet of frontage in just one year so they joined with an adjacent neighbour to build the wall to save both properties. However, the imposing 230ft wide sandbag structure also runs across a beach entrance road between the two homes that is for everyone living in the private avenue. It slopes up on the avenue side but has had a 5ft sheer drop on to the beach since October last year because a storm washed away the sand that made it resemble a dune. This has made it impossible for most of the residents, many of them elderly, to get down on to the beach. Some neighbours, many having lived for decades in the quiet lane in Amagansett, Long Island, New York, have now branded the designer, 47, arrogant and high-handed. Despite The Hamptons being a millionaires’ playground with high property prices, most residents in the private avenue have lived there for many years and hold down regular jobs or are retired. Stella and her family are believed to have spent part of last summer at the modest 1176 sq ft home. She has four children with Alasdhair, the creative director at boot brand Hunter. The couple advertised the home as a summer rental in 2017 for up to $30,000 a month. Stella’s dad Sir Paul, 77, has had a home in uber-fashionable Amagansett since the 1990s and pal Gwyneth Paltrow, 46, also has a house there. Stella and the neighbour’s wall went up in July last year. But her permit with East Hampton council expired in April. She is now applying for a time extension– but is willing to remove the sandbags across the 30ft wide access and run them round the side of her house, according to the latest pape

  • February 4, 2018 - London, UK. 4th February 2018. Artist Andrew Cooper points out his sculpture of theheads of Lambeth Councillors responsible for social cleansing to Aysen Dennis from the Aylesbury Estate. Campaigners mark the third anniversary of the announcement by Network Rail of their plans to redevelop the Brixton Arches with a rally and a three minute silence. The area and its small traders who have been displaced (a few are still fighting to remain) has been described as the 'heart of Brixton'. The work was supposed to be completed by 2016 but is only scheduled to start tomorrow, and the Save Brixton Arches campaign are calling for it to be abandoned as the plans for the work fail to include proper fire safety precautions and will severely restrict access by emergency services to local businesses and the railway and station. They also call on Lambeth Council to insist that the conditions of the planning permission that included no adverse effect on the market traders in Brixton Station Road be applied, as the work as planned will produce dust and pollution which will almost certainly force those who prepare food in the area out of business. They also point out that there are no safety measures to protect local businesses, young children in the nearby crèche or the general public from potentially dangerous airborne particles during the removal of asbestos. There was also a call for an investigation into local Labour MP Helen Hayes, elected in 2015, who until she resigned shortly before the election was a senior partner in the firm Allies & Morrison which made the recommendation for the 'improvement' of the arches in 2013, though she has denied any personal involvement. A&M have been involved in many contentious 'regeneration' schemes with developers and councils across London which opponents describe as social cleansing. • EXCLUSIVE: By Sanjay Pandey and Supito Maity in Sao Paulo A 28-year-old Brazilian woman crippled by sheer weight and disproportionate size of tumours in her lower limbs is pleading for help from the netizens. Karina Rodini, who was fired from her job and is forced stay unmarried due to her medical condition, says the disease took a heavy toll on her personal and professional life. Karina has spent most of her adult life hiding it in public. But after last year’s botched up surgery in a state-run hospital, her ‘legs have become double the size and no clothes fit her’, making her a pariah in the locality. Karina suffers from type one neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition marked by changes in skin colour and the growth of non-cancerous cysts in different parts. The disease affects one in 4000 people globally. According to the US National Library of Medicine, patient with type one neufibromatosis are born with one mutated copy of the NF1 gene in each cell. It said, "In about half of cases, the altered gene is inherited from an affected parent. The remaining cases result from new mutations in the NF1 gene and occur in people with no history of the disorder in their family." Karina, from Sao Paulo, was just two when ‘coffee milk’ patches started to appear on her skin. She said due to the lack of formation of lumps, the doctors could barely make out what ailed her. “I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis when I was only two years old, at first it was only ‘coffee milk’ patches so the doctor couldn’t do anything because there were no lumps or tumours,” she said. The cysts started to show up almost nine years later. One year later, when she was 12, Karina underwent a surgical procedure to remove a cyst, weighing around nine kilograms, from her uterus. According to her, the cavity gave her a semblance of a pregnant woman. Being the oldest child among three, Karina has always received love from her mother, Fatima M.
