• EXCLUSIVE: SHOCKING IMAGES OF CAPE TOWN’S BONE-DRY DAM WHERE ONCE LOCALS USED TO GO BOATING AND WATER SKIING WITH PIX By Magnus News Agency Shocking images show a bone-dry desert where once boats used to sail on a reservoir as drought continues to ravage South Africa. Theewaterskloof Dam once hosted yacht clubs and water skiing but today not even one vessel could be launched on the parched space. Photographer Dirk Theron visited the starved body of water last week and took these frightening images of the dried-up lake which should supply 40 percent of the water to Cape Town’s four million residents. As Dirk’s pictures show, skeletons of fish and muddy pools are much of what remains of the former 480 million cubic metre capacity site. Last week billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg toured Theewaterskloof as part of his role as UN special Envoy for Climate Action. He warned the reservoir and draught across the Western Cape should act as a wake-up call for the international community on climate change. Despite the drought, which has struck the area for the past few years, government officials in South Africa have been criticised for their handling of the crisis. A ‘Day Zero’ when municipal taps would be turned off has been pushed back from June 4 to July 9 despite chronic shortages continuing. South African Dirk lives just 30 minutes from Theewaterskloof, but said he was stunned by what he found there. He said: “Theewaterskloof dam is one of those places where everybody has a boat and people would go there for the weekend. “A friend of mine used to be a member of the Theewaters sports club, we used to go there all the time water skiing and playing on the water in his boat. “This was a massive, massive body of water. It’s been a few years since last I’ve been there but when I saw it I was shocked to my core. “We all know about the water crisis but standing there and seeing it with your own eyes is so surreal. “I stood on dry ground

 • By Sudipto Maity in India A man was arrested by police in India's central Madhya Pradesh state after reports emerged of him inserting a rubber grip of a moped handle into his wife's privates. The heinous crime took place two year's ago, but hit the headlines after the victim reached hospital in Indore city, unable to bear the excruciating pain. Fortunately for her, doctors at the Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital were able to extract the handle out of her body after a grueling four-hour-long operation, but, her condition still remains critical. The grip reached the 30-year-old victim's urine bladder, uterus and small intestine, causing an infection that had spread into the area as the rubber remained stuck. Doctors said if not operated, the infection would have spread to other body parts as well. The said operation was led by Dr S Bhattacharya. Others, included Dr. R K Mathur, Dr. S Moses, Dr. S S Sharma, Dr. S Verma, Dr. S Joshi, Dr. A Solanki, Dr S Memon, Dr. K S Tiwari, Dr. D Shukla, Dr. P Dayal, Dr. K Arora and Dr. P Jain. The man had committed the crime after the couple got into an argument over his alleged extra marital affair. Reports said the accused was so angry with the wife's behavior, he decided to get her drunk and insert the rubber grip. Strangely, the woman kept the incident hidden till the pain became unbearable for her and had to take help of doctors. Earlier, she had even complained to the police against her husband's unruly behaviour, which she alleged fell into deaf ears. The victim had also contemplated checking up with the doctors, but refrained as she fell short of cash. However, when the infection spread and made it difficult for her to walk, she decided to get herself treated. The accused has been identified as Prakash Bhil. The couple fell in love and tied the knot in 2005. Together, they have six children, five daughters and a son. Prakash works in a band. The woman said she grew suspicious after reports of her husband dating another woman, Ra

 • April 18, 2018 - Kyiv, Ukraine - MP Nadiya Savchenko stays in the glass-panelled security cage during a hearing at the Shevchenkivskyi District Court, Kyiv, capital of Ukraine, April 18, 2018. Ukrinform...KYIV. The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has held a hearing to consider a petition filed by the prosecutor which calls for a forced drawing of biological materials from MP Nadiya Savchenko. The lawmaker announced that she would consider any such action as a humiliation and torture. Later, the court dismissed the move. As reported, the Verkhovna Rada approved of Nadiya Savchenko's criminal prosecution, detention and arrest on March 22. The MP is suspected of actions aimed at enacting a coup, infringement on the life of a statesperson or civil activist, preparation of a terror act, facilitation of a terrorist organization and the illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosive substances. Moreover, Nadiya Savchenko and Volodymyr Ruban, the head of the Ofitserskyi Korpus (Officers' Corps) Centre for the Liberation of Captives who was also arrested, are suspected of preparing the assassination of President Petro Poroshenko. On March 23, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court ruled a two-month custodial detention without the right to bail for the people's deputy. During this hearing, the MP announced her hunger strike. Since March, after Operation Loose Meat, Americans have begun to inspect all lots of fresh meat sold by Brazil - 11% were rejected. The reason was a reaction of the vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease, a kind of lesion that is common according to the ranchers. It does not affect the quality of the product, but is not accepted in that country. The temporary veto on Brazil's raw beef interrupts an export channel that took too long to open. It was 17 years of negotiation to persuade the Americans to buy the Brazilian product. Between January and May the United States was the eighth main destination of our fresh beef. About 12 thousand tons were shipped there, handling almost US $ 49 million. They are timid compared to other buyers, but selling to Americans means credibility. So, losing this market worries so much the industry, after all, scratched image can be expensive. (Credit Image: © Cris Faga via ZUMA Wire)

 • “I tested positive,” says Jemimah Mokubunge, on Friday, June 5, 2020, holding a (health-union SAFTU) sign that alleges that Tygerberg nurse Ntombizakithi Ngidi, who died of COVID-19 related illness, was initially refused medical care by her superiors.
Mokubunge is a clerk handling patients’ hospital records. “Sometimes we get coronavirus patients’ records,” she said. “And there was no sanitizer. Most of the people (in the department) got positive.”
When the first person in her department contracted the virus, that employee was the one to notify her colleagues by calling them from isolation, explains Mokubunge. “We asked to be tested,” she said. But “they refused us to get tested.”
“Only when the second person tested positive were we allowed to get tested,” she said. “I tested positive. I did not feel sick.”
Mokubunge lives with her husband, mother and nine-month old baby. “They said I could isolate with the baby,” she said she was advised by the health professionals.
After quarantining at home for 14 days, Mokubunge was told to go back to work. No retesting was available, she said. Her family tested negative for the virus.
Furthermore, an employee of this company attempted to confiscate the cameras and memory cards of a press photographer outside of the facility, despite no authority to do so. Migrants at the Fuerstenfeldbruck housing facility near Munich held a rally protesting alleging abuse by security staff and stays lasting two years or more instead of the maximum of six months. The Fuerstenfeldbruck camp has been a flash point for conflicts for several years, with the predominantly African residents being involved in numerous altercations with security and staff. Sources state that the migrants housed there have a low perspective to stay or pending deportation orders and such a situation, along with extended stays, leads to conflict. The group Refugee Struggle for Freedom recently released a partial video alleging an attack by several security workers against a resident. Upon return to the camp, an unrelated fight broke out requiring police and medical assistance. It was at this point that a member of the security team approached a member of the press and aggressively demanded an end to photographing and also attempted to confiscate the cameras and memory cards. The guard gave up the attempts when the photographer indicated that only the police can give such orders, which they did not. (Credit Image: © Sachelle Babbar/ZUMA Wire)

 • September 1, 2017 - inconnu - Britain’s royal Navy has images what its submarine fleet may look like by the end of the century. And it consists of a range of vessels all inspired by ocean wildlife.Chiefs asked a team from UK engineering naval defence forum UKNEST to develop concepts. The manned and unmanned concept undersea vessels are intended to handle a variety of tasks in a future world experiencing intense competition between nations for ocean resources.Submarines may have become much more sophisticated but the basic design, construction, and missions have hardly changed in 40 years. The new tasks in the seas will be for aquaculture, mining, and industry in deep ocean areas. The Royal Navy asked UKNEST to come up with some ideas to explore how new technology can address new threats and protect British assets and freedom of navigation. The ideas bleeding-edge technology with simplified complex systems to produce more flexible and cheaper vessels. The main concept is the Nautilus 1000 mothership. Designed to look like a cross between a whale and a manta ray, the Nautilus is conceived as a command and control submarine as well as a weapons carrier. It would have an advanced autonomous systems and ''neuro-interfacing'' that would allow it to be controlled by thought. The submarine only needs a crew of about 20.Steering and depth control would use flexible wing-tips that can alter their shape like a living fish.A 3D-printed acrylic hull bonded to super-strong alloys would give the sub enough strength to withstand depths of over 1,000 metres/ (3,300 ft while providing more speed and stealth. The Nautilus would also a skin of nano-thin scales that are bonded with a material that allows them to be realigned to reduce drag and therefore noise, and absorb incoming sonar pings. For power, the Nautilus uses hybrid algae-electric propulsion in cruise mode, with a large-scale tunnel drive using bladeless fans that force through water like a smooth jet. Approximately 50 peaceful counter-demonstrators organized by the SPD party and Muenchen ist Bunt group were also in attendance. Only one altercation arose when a member of the public and NOT part of the demonstrators approached the stage and created a minor disturbance. The theme of the speech was “Buerger an der Macht” (“Power to the People”) and Schweizer Platz was chosen as a tie-in to the AfD’s concept of using the Swiss example to handle immigration and foreigners. • June 6, 2017 - Suisse - A new blade from the makers of the Swiss Army Knife is a cut above its rivals – having been made from recycled Nespresso coffee pod capsules. The Pioneer pocket knife by Victorinox has scales on its brown casing made from 24 recycled pods.Although convenient to use, coffee pods like those offered by Nespresso have a huge environmental footprint.Billions end up in landfills each year where they can take anywhere from 150 to 500 years to break down. But Nespresso, which has other recycling schemes around the world, has joined with Victorinox to create a limited-edition knife for 2017 that uses melted down and recast aluminium capsules as the scales on its handle;.The knife’s tools include a blade, can opener, two screwdrivers , bottle opening, wine stripper and a hole punch. It is available from the company’s online store or a few selected stores for around €43 Euros / $48 USD / £37 GBPA Victorinox spokesman said:” Sustainability is an important part of corporate culture at Victorinox as well as at Nespresso. “Both firms have long committed themselves to acting responsibly and so it seemed a natural progression to team up to create a knife which turns recycled Nespresso capsules into a functional tool for your everyday adventures.“Used Nespresso capsules must be melted down and then cast. “We wanted to be absolutely certain that the molten material could stand up to our stringent high quality standards, so we carried out numerous tests in our development laboratory, ensuring that the new material would be stable, durable and fitting all design requirements.“We are proud to say that all of our efforts were fruitful, with both partners delighted with the quality and success of the Pioneer Nespresso knife. “We’re very happy to be writing a bit of Swiss recycling history, together with Nespresso.” # UN COUTEAU SUISSE FAIT AVEC DES CAPSULES NESPRESSO RECYLCEES (Credit Image

 • May 19, 2017 - Stockholm, Sweden - Christian Karlsson was 7-years-old, and his brother Robin Dahlén was 5, when they were accused of killing a 4-year-old boy, Kevin Skog. An investigative TV journalism team has now raised questions about how the case was handled and that the guilt of the two brothers needs to be re-examined. Their lawyer said that the normal procedures have not been followed at a press conference on Friday. He wants the brothers to be taken out of the new investigation, and then it is time to talk about seeking compensation. At the press conference, the brothers' father said that they had sought to have the case re-opened, but the police officer in charge had refused (Credit Image: © Aftonbladet/IBL via ZUMA Wire)
