  • Meet the mother duck who every year gives birth to her chicks in a hospital before parading them down the hallways. Once a year, every year, the patients at the continuing care unit of the University of Rochester's Thompson Health hospital, in Canandaigua, New York, are treated to this adorable sight. The local duck returns every spring to the same courtyard in the middle of the hospital to lay her eggs. Amazingly, the cunning bird has even learned to knock on the doors to be allowed into the building to get to her favorite nesting spot. Then without fail, once her chicks have hatched, she marches them through the hospital back to the surrounding woodland. To the delight of the patients, the little ducks can be seen following their mom throughout the hospital’s hallways, out the door, and into a grassy area behind the facility. The duck follows the same path every year, and facility services staff use old signage to guide her and the ducklings through the halls gently. Amazingly, despite it being an annual occurrence, this is the first time staff has attempted to document the adorable "rite of spring". A statement released by care staff said: “Every year, without fail, a mama duck chooses one of the enclosed courtyards at our M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center to lay her eggs and take care of her babies. She lets us know when she’s ready to go by tapping on the glass, and this morning, it was time for this annual rite of spring.”. 21 May 2019 Pictured: Adorable mother duckling walks her chicks through a New York hospital every year. • A world record breaking elephant sculpture stopped people in their tracks on a suburban street as passers-by stopped for a closer look. The almost four-metre-tall beast — mounted outside a printing company in Birmingham, UK — is destined to set a new record as the biggest animal sculpture created by a 3D printing machine. The technological marvel is perfectly life like, though larger than most elephants in the wild and as a permanent sculpture, is set to become a new landmark for the UK’s second. largest city. The animal is mounted high on the wall of creative print company, Andesign, and is shown smashing through the building's brickwork out onto the street. Unveiled by Sutton Coldfield MP Andrew Mitchell, a crowd of 100 gathered to see the spectacular pachyderm revealed to the public for the first time. Mr Mitchell said of the sculpture: ‘This is a properly astonishing spectacle and a measure of the great ingenuity that typifies British industry and the very clever creative people who work here. Isn't it incredible what has been achieved with a print machine ? ‘In fact, it's so lifelike that my dog is completely terrified to come out of the car or anywhere near the thing.’ The African elephant was created by the world's biggest and fastest 3D printing machine, which can duplicate absolutely any object imaginable in the tiniest detail by printing line upon line of a special resin. The as yet unnamed elephant was created over five days of continuous printing and is the biggest animal ever created by a printing machine. Delighted bosses at Andesign await confirmation from the Guinness Book of Records but are refusing to rest on their laurels with even bigger and better projects now lined up. ‘The elephant has been a tremendous experience and incredible hard work,’ said Andesign MD Garry Hassell. ‘But the sky is the limit for us now and we'll keep looking to create more and more incredible things. ‘You never know, we even might try to print a blue

  • This adorable calf has made history after becoming the first ever Indian rhino to be born using artificial insemination. Akuti, a seven-year-old Greater One Horned Indian Rhinoceros, gave birth at approximately 12.30am on Tuesday April 23. According to delighted zoo staff, it is the first ever birth of the species by induced ovulation and artificial insemination. Amazingly, the youngster appears to be in excellent health and these adorable images capture the scientific marvel taking its first ever steps as it wobbles around its enclosure. According to zoo officials, natural breeding wasn't working, so an expert team of animal reproductive specialists from the South East Zoo Alliance for Reproduction and Conservation, which focuses on endangered species, were brought in to help the birth along. The crew artificially collected semen from the father, Suru, on Jan. 8, 2018. The following day they artificially inseminated the mother. Once the team of experts had confirmed that Akuti was pregnant, she was trained to receive regular ultrasound examinations. This helped the staff monitor the development of the baby. Because the exact date of conception was known, they were able to accurately estimate the birth date. Zoo Spokesperson Ron Magill said: “With the artificial insemination, we had to first collect the semen from the male. Once that was done, we had to immobilize the female so that there would be no danger to the veterinarians who then carefully used an instrument that is inserted vaginally and placed up against the cervix where the semen is then deposited,” he said. “The challenge is that it has to be timed precisely to her ovulation which was also induced. As it turned out, our timing was perfect.”. 25 Apr 2019 Pictured: Historic Indian rhino born using artificial insemination at Zoo Miami. • Delightful squirrels celebrate the upcoming fashion weeks<br />
<br />
To celebrate the up-coming fashion weeks starting in September in London, Paris, Milan and New York, photographer, Geert Weggen has created a delightful fashion photo series with his squirrels.<br />
<br />
In Geert’s photos, the squirrels are making their own clothes by spinning their own wool. The squirrels are wild and live in a forest just outside of Geert’s house in Sweden. He has created an outdoor photo studio – just 3 metres from his kitchen window - where he leaves food hidden in various props for the squirrels to find. The squirrels come to the studio every day via the trees and Geert has formed a lovely bond with the animals. <br />
<br />
Geert loves the fact that the squirrels look so human like in the photos, especially when they are interacting with the props. It took him 2 months to complete this series and hi9s favourite part is that the series ends with the squirrels selling their clothes at a market.<br />
<br />
“It is very time consuming to find the props. Every day I am scouring the internet looking for new props or I make the props myself. I work with the squirrels seven days a week, year after year” says Geert.

Geert loves the fact that the squirrels look so human like in the photos, especially when they are interacting with the props. It took him 2 months to complete this series and hi9s favourite part is that the series ends with the squirrels selling their clothes at a market.<br />
<br />
“It is very time consuming to find the props. Every day I am scouring the internet looking for new props or I make the props myself. I work with the squirrels seven days a week, year after year” says Geert.

<br />
To celebrate the up-coming fashion weeks starting in September in London, Paris, Milan and New York, photographer, Geert Weggen has created a delightful fashion photo series with his squirrels.<br />
<br />
<br />

  • Delighted TV star James Corden has scored his Christmas wish for his family - moving into his luxury mansion in Los Angeles. Corden has moved his family and new baby into the new home - even though workers are still adding the final touches to his renovations. The star made sure that the home had a festive feel too having workers put up decorations around his estate to make his family feel in the festive mood. Noticeable changes are the front of the home, where the torn up driveway lawn has now been replaced with pristine looking turf, understood to be drought resistant grass. Locals say that Corden had carpenters working on the upstairs of the home, along with the back garden. They are delighted that the builders and contractors have removed the giant unsightly rubbish cart, which was parked outside the property. The teams of workmen had been on a tight schedule given that the family were meant to have moved into the home in late September. Corden had hoped, when he bought the home in the spring, that his family would enjoy their first Christmas there - and that dream has come true. His wife Julia, who gave birth to their third child last week, has been overseeing the move from their rented home in Pacific Palisades. While Corden, host of the CBS Late Late Show, has been working, she has been instructing cleaners, electricians, landscapers and gardeners at the lavish home. The good news for Corden is that he had saved plenty of cash from the $10m house purchase. The shrewd entertainer negotiating a whopping $1.25m off its original asking price and has now used that saved cash to renovate his place. The former Gavin and Stacy actor is just two and half years into his run as a late night US TV host after locking in a five year deal. He publicly has said that he has no idea whether he will remain in Los Angeles, but his purchase and extensive renovation plans seem to indicate he is in for the long haul.
