  • This is the worlds first-ever luxury space hotel ‘Aurora Station’ that plans on welcoming guests in 2022. A new space startup called Orion Span unveiled the out-of-this-world destination with hopes to host guests beginning in 2022. Aurora Station is being built in Houston, Texas. The exclusive hotel will host six people at a time – including two crew members. A 12-day stay at Aurora Station will start at $9.5 million — considerably less than the $20-$40 million space tourists paid for trips to the International Space Station from 2001 to 2009. Aboard Aurora Station, travelers will fly freely through the space station in zero gravity. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in research experiments and even livestream via high-speed wireless internet. “We developed Aurora Station to provide a turnkey destination in space. Upon launch, Aurora Station goes into service immediately, bringing travelers into space quicker and at a lower price point than ever seen before, while still providing an unforgettable experience,” said Frank Bunger, chief executive officer and founder of Orion Span. “Orion Span has additionally taken what was historically a 24-month training regimen to prepare travelers to visit a space station and streamlined it to three months, at a fraction of the cost. Our goal is to make space accessible to all, by continuing to drive greater value at lower cost.” Accommodations for four paying guests along with two crewmembers complete the initial plans for Aurora Station. But as demand grows Orion Span intends to add to the original Aurora Station core. While the ISS is 357 feet long, Aurora Station will begin at just 43.5 feet long and 14.1 feet wide — roughly the size of a large private jet's cabin. Visitors to Aurora Station will participate in the 3-month training regimen to prepare themselves for the journey and stay in orbit. From online courses to in-person training in Houston, travelers will be prepared through Orion Span As

  • Welcome to the world’s most expensive hotel suite — a stunning two-storey palace in the sky overlooking the Las Vegas strip, costing $100,000-a-night. The Palms has just unveiled the jewel in the crown of its ongoing $690million refurbishment of the casino resort — the Empathy Suite, a Sky Villa designed by and featuring the works of world-renowned English artist Damien Hirst, aged 53. The Empathy Suite sprawls over 9,000 square-feet and two floor and features a butterfly-motif mosaic tiled pool overlooking the strip, a vast collection of art including any original works by Hirst, a 13-seat curved glass bar top encrusting medical waste art, along with two lounge and theater areas that accommodate up to 52 guests. There’s also Hirst-desined furniture, drapery, carpeting and serpentine-shaped Italian leather sofas with the butterfly motif. Above the centre bar is Hirst’s Here for a Good Time, Not a Long Time (2018) art piece – a marlin skeleton in a vitrine and taxidermy marlin in another. The opulent dining area seats eight people, while both master bedrooms come complete with California-King beds, massive closets and bathrooms with double sinks and theatrical lighting. The villa also boasts a powder room, a salt healing room, a fitness center and two massage rooms, while the outdoor area features a pool and panoramic views of Sin City. A stay at the suite — which is reserved for millionaire high-roller gamblers, also involves a highly personalised and exclusive guest experience while at the property, including 24-hour butler service, over-the-top welcome amenities and a private behind-the-scenes art tour of the suite and entire property. There’s also a chauffeured car service throughout the stay and A-list access to Palms’ premier amenities such as KAOS Dayclub & Nightclub, the Pearl Concert Theater and the Palms’ world-class recording studio and a $10,000 credit to use at the resort. President Clinton welcomed Nelson Mandela to the White House today, saying the South African leader's path from imprisonment in an apartheid state to the presidency of a new democracy is ''proof that the human spirit can never be crushed.''.''You are living proof that the forces of justice and reconciliation can bridge any divide,'' Clinton told Mandela at a formal arrival ceremony marking the South African leader's first visit to Washington as president..Mandela said the victory against apartheid paved the way for a new struggle to improve the lot of a majority of South Africa's people..''We have opened a new battle line to fight against poverty, against hunger, against joblessness, against homelessness, against disease, illiteracy, lack of electricity, of running water, of health care,'' he said to an invited cheering crowd of 4,500..That battle, he said, ''may prove to be a more difficult battle than the fight against apartheid.''.Mandela also paid tribute to the support of black America for black South Africans' long fight for racial equality..''The Afro-Americans never forgot that Africa is their continent,'' he said..Underscoring the main goal of his trip, he made a plea for U.S. investment to rebuild South Africa's economy, which has languished under years of international sanctions against the apartheid system of racial separation..''People of the United States of America, come and invest in our country,'' he said..He said he was confident he would not go home ''with empty hands.''.Credit: Mark Reinstein (Credit Image: © Mark Reinstein via ZUMA Wire)
