  • July 21, 2017 - Dachau, bavaria, germany - (photo: Sachelle Babbar) The head of the SPD and Kanzlerkandidat (candidate for the Chancellorship of Germany) visited the Dachau concentration camp grounds in order to pay respects on behalf of his SPD party to the victims of National Sozialism. Schulz then presented a memorial plaque (followed by a moment of silence) with inscriptions honoring the victims and those who defend democracy. At the end of the tour, a wreath was laid down at the International Memorial by Schulz, Markus Rinderspacher, Uli Grötsch, and Michael Schrodi. Other speakers included Dr. Gabrielle Hammermann of the Dachau Memorial..The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Grounds lie approximately 20km north of Munich. The camp eventually came a “model”, which other camps were designed after. It was in operation from March 1933- April 1945 and 31,951 were reported as killed there. Dachau recently received international attention when the iconic “Arbeit macht Frei” gate was stolen in 2014, then recovered in Norway in 2016, and returned to the grounds in Feb. 2017. • April 4, 2017 - Bavarian parliamentarian Florian Ritter (SPD) holds a conference on the ongoing NSU terror cell process, which has cost tens of millions of Euros and appears to be making little progress towards prosecutions. Much criticism lies in the involvement of law enforcement and the Verfassungsschutz (secret monitoring service to protect the constitution) and their alleged involvement. Futhermore, the investigations appeared to have had racist motivations as families of victims were put under international suspicion for the murders of their loved ones. • June 19, 2017 - Munich, Germany - Two youth protestors. The far- to radical-right and populist AfD party and speaker Wolfgang Wiehle held a rally at Munich’s Schweizer Platz, which drew approximately 75 supporters, many from the Pegida-Munich circles, as well as several in neo-nazi circles. Approximately 50 peaceful counter-demonstrators organized by the SPD party and Muenchen ist Bunt group were also in attendance. Only one altercation arose when a member of the public and NOT part of the demonstrators approached the stage and created a minor disturbance. The theme of the speech was “Buerger an der Macht” (“Power to the People”) and Schweizer Platz was chosen as a tie-in to the AfD’s concept of using the Swiss example to handle immigration and foreigners. • October 3, 2018 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany - Natascha Kohnen of the SPD. Despite unstable weather, over 40,000 Bavarian citizens, politicians, and activists assembled at Munich’s famed Odeonsplatz to demonstrate against the Politik der Angst (politics of fear) in the last days before the Bavarian state elections. The demonstration is the latest in a series of demonstrations protesting against the Polizeiaufgabengesetz (Police Assignment Laws) which critics maintain are undemocratic power grabs by the CSU party and police and designed to limit civil rights and press freedom. Under these laws, anyone may be detained, without charge, indefinitely. The CSU maintains these laws will save lives. Furthermore, the groups also are protesting against increasingly racist and xenophobic CSU and AfD politics directed not only at refugees, but at foreigners and non-whites in Germany. It is expected that the CSU will lose their absolute majority in the Bavarian Landtag, which will be made up by them likely assembling a coalition with the extreme-right Alternativ fuer Deutschland party. • June 27, 2017 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany - Ahead of the Bundestag elections in roughly three months on September 24th, a podium discussion was organized and aimed at young voters so they may have a chance to be closer to the candidates and discuss issues with them directly. The event was organized as part of a cooperation between the Muenchen Volkshochschule (MVHS) and Bayerischer Rundfunk’s Puls. A point of controversy was the invitation of the AfD’s Petr Bystron, who is now under Verfassungsschutz (secret service) monitoring due to right-radical ties and connections to the ultra-radical Identitaere Bewegung. Furthermore, Bystron has been documented in the past with right-radicals, such as militant American Rick W. and violent neo-nazi Lukas Bals, with whom he intimidated opposition and journalists. .A source has verified that the other candidates were informed of them sharing a stage with a known right-radical, however the other candidates all voiced opposition, but refused to cancel their appearances together for fear they would be the only ones to do so, giving an advantage to other candidates..The AfD party has had numerous controversies as of late, most stemming from associations and leanings with the far- and radical right. Most recently, another AfD politician, Andre Poggenburg, was found as a participant in a leaked WhatsApp chat group saying such things as the neo-nazi slogan “Deutschland den Deutschen” (“Germany only for Germans”). Further messages included “after the [AfD] seizing of power, all journalists should be investigated and sifted out” (“nach der Machtuebernahme alle Journalisten ueberpruefen und sieben”). Poggenburg belongs to Bjoern Hoecke’s radical/nationalist/neo-nazi wing of the AfD..In March, Petr Bystron made the following statement, which, among other incidents, led to his monitoring by the Verfassungsschutz:.“Die Identitaere Bewegung ist eine Vorfeldorga

  • June 1, 2017 - MüNchen, Bayern, Germany - ''No Deportations into War'' Over 750 from various political parties and organizations, including the SPD, the Green Party, Claudia Stamm's Zeit zu Handeln, Bellevue di Monaco, and the Bayerischer Fluechtlingsrat organized a demonstration at Munich's Salvatorstrasse in solidarity with the students at a Nuremburg school who were surprised by a shocking arrest of a classmate set for an immediate surprise deportation to Afghanistan. Hundreds of students then organized resistance and a blockade to try and prevent the police from taking their classmate away, which resulted in brutal violence being used against the students. The case has sparked much criticism against the police, who not only violated the safe zone of a school to make an arrest, but also has displayed the level of violence the Bavarian police use freely and without consequence.
