  • Lili Reinhart shows off her wild side in a stunning photo shoot for The Mighty Company. The Netflix star set pulses racing as she posed in a number of revealing outfits as she was unveiled as the face of The Mighty Company x Ilaria Urbinati campaign. In the snaps, Lili, 22, can be seen wearing just her underwear paired with a pink cowboy hat and metallic silver bomber jacket. She was also snapped wearing a black PVC ensemble. The theme of the photo shoot, Jessie Willner of The Mighty Company, said: 'was space cowgirl themed as a tongue-in-cheek embodiment of a wild, independent woman in a galactic setting. 'Ilaria pulled up the September 1995 Rolling Stone cover of Alicia Silverstone, and we had to shoot a nod to it. Lili was the perfect front-woman of this because she's this incredibly outspoken champion of women." Amazingly 100 percent of the profits from the collaborative campaign will be donated to a charity that helps to stop forced and child marriages. 07 Dec 2018 Pictured: Lili Reinhart. • June 4, 2017 - MüNchen, Bayern, Germany - Pro-EU demonstrators with the Frankfurt-based Pulse of Europe #pulseofeurope demonstrated in Munich the day after coordinated, suspected terror attacks that took place in London, England the night before. There was little spoken of the London terror attacks, outside of a few sentences by John Friedmann, grounder of the Munich chapter after which the music and dancing program resumed. Post-Brexit Britain has been a target of negative commentary by the Pulse of Europe movement..The Pulse of Europe movement was created to unify Europe and raise the voice of pro-EU supporters in the face of riding populism and right-radicalism. Despite this, Pulse of Europe has explicitly welcomed Pegida members and right-radicals, as well as being criticized for what appears to be “left-populism” that attempts to generate European unity through the channeling and normalization of the hatred of Russia, Turkey, post-Brexit Britain, and the United States. Further criticisms blast the large amount of program materials being based on the United States and Trump and lack of concrete discussion based on Europe. • June 8, 2017 - Inconnu, inconnu - 07/06/2017 - A patch could help improve sleep and even save lives by detecting a sleep disorder that usually requires hospital Sleep apnea is a serious condition that happens when a person’s breathing in interrupted during sleep.Left untreated it sufferers stop breathing repeatedly , sometimes hundreds of times a night. This means the brain and the rest of the body may not get enough oxygen. It can lead to high blood pressure, a stroke, heart attack, diabetes depression and headaches.People who are suspected of having the condition are often sent for a sleep study known as polysomnography. This involves their spending the night sleeping at a clinic, with numerous electrodes hard-wired to their head. The new SomnaPatch is simple and – according to the recently-released results of a study – almost as accurate.Made by California-based Somnarus, the SomnaPatch weighs less than 28 grams / one ounce. It consists of a forehead-worn disposable adhesive patch connected to a nosepiece. It is worn while the patient sleeps in their own bed, and uses integrated sensors to measure and record factors such as nasal pressure, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiratory effort, sleep duration and changes in body position. As part of its efforts to obtain US Food and Drug Administration approval, Somnarus conducted a study of the device at three US sleep clinics last year. This involved having 174 test subjects undergo standard polysomnography while also using the SomnaPatch. When the readings obtained by the two approaches were compared, they were found to be in agreement 87.4 percent of the time.Additionally, a separate home usability study found that 38 out of 39 users were able to use the device to record at least four hours of sleep, guided by nothing but the included instructions.A spokesman said:’ SomnaPatch records respiratory patterns, pulse oximetry data and estimates sleep time based on proprietary algorithms and

  • A urology doctor delivered a baby boy during an eight-hour Air France flight from Paris to New York. Dr Sij Hemal, 27, was moments away from enjoying a glass of champagne in first class when he had to jump into action after 41-year-old passenger Toyin Ogundipe went into labor. Dr Hemal, a second-year urology resident at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, safely delivered the baby — who was named Jake — before tying the umbilical cord with a makeshift surgical clamp… a shoe string. By chance, Dr Hemal had been seated next to a French pediatrician Dr. Susan Shepherd, who was able to help and gave the baby boy a clean bill of health upon delivery. Dr Hemal had been on a day-long journey from New Delhi, India, when the drama unfolded, and was making his way back to the U.S. after attending his best friend’s wedding the day before. “I was pretty tired from jet lag,” Dr Hemal said. “I thought I’d just have a drink and fall asleep. As it turned out, I’m glad I didn’t drink anything.” Ms Ogundipe, a banker who resides between the UK and Nigeria, was traveling with her four-year-old daughter Amy when she suddenly went into labor about midway into the December 17 flight, just as the jet skirted the southern coast of Greenland, 35,000 feet below. An emergency landing would have required a two-hour diversion to a U.S. military base in the Azores Islands, so Dr. Hemal recommended to the pilot they continue to JFK International Airport, which was still four hours away. “Her contractions were about 10 minutes apart, so the pediatrician and I began to monitor her vital signs and keep her comfortable,” Dr Hemal explained. The doctors used instruments and supplies in the flight’s scanty medical kit to routinely check Ms Ogundipe’s vital signs, including blood pressure, oxygen rate and pulse. But within the course of an hour, Toyin’s contractions accelerated; they occurred seven, then five and finally two minutes apart. “T

  • Many national parks in the United States can be experienced by driving scenic roads or hiking on trails. Visit Biscayne National Park in southern Florida, however, and you might want to explore by boat; 95 percent of this park is under water.<br />
On February 25, 2016, the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite acquired this natural-color image of Biscayne National Park. The park encompasses the northernmost Florida Keys, starting from Miami to just north of Key Largo.<br />
The keys run like a spine through the center of the park, with Biscayne Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The water-covered areas span more than 660 square kilometers (250 square miles) of the park, making it the largest marine park in the U.S. National Park System. Biscayne protects the longest stretch of mangrove forest on the U.S. East Coast, and one of the most extensive stretches of coral reef in the world.<br />

Some of what lies below those waters is visible in data acquired by the Experimental Advanced Airborne Research Lidar (EAARL). EAARL's Lidar measured the time it took for a pulse of light to go from the aircraft, through the water, reflect off the seafloor, and back to the airplane. Researchers can convert that travel time into measurements of height, and map the underwater topography. According to C. Wayne Wright, a remote-sensing scientist who worked at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, EAARL was designed and built by NASA specifically to get a high-resolution look at coral reef environments.<br />
The highlighted area in the second image above shows where EAARL acquired data in Biscayne National Park from July 10–14, 2001. The third image shows a detailed view of the center of the study area. White and light blue are the shallowest areas, primarily marking the location of coral reefs. Some

  • March 7, 2017 - Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. - Dragonflies are being turned into radio controlled drones by scientists. The Dragonfleye project sees the insects fitted with a tiny backpack of electronic components that allow the researchers to communicate with the insects. The study could help honeybees one day pollinate plants. The dragonflies have had their neurons genetically modified so that they are more sensitive to light, allowing them to be controlled using measured light pulses. The project is a collaboration between the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory research centre in Boston, Massachusetts and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Maryland. • August 3, 2017 - inconnu - Patients with neurological disease or brain tumours could have a window fitted into the skull to allow utrasound surgery.Ultrasound is already utilized to treat brain disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. It can also be used to kill cancer cells and to dissolve stroke-causing blood clots. Unfortunately, the thickness and density of the skull absorbs or reflects much of the ultrasound before it reaches the brain, making treatments less effective than they would be otherwise. Ultrasound sound waves are at a higher frequency than those audible to humans. However, the human skull is between 2 mm and 8 mm thick and relatively dense, meaning that most sound waves are reflected or absorbed before they make it into the brain. Now researchers have come up with a solution be creating a window on the brain. Developed by scientists at the University of California, Riverside along with colleagues from three Mexican research institutes, the window actually consists of an implant which is located beneath the scalp, replacing part of the cranium bone. It's made from a ceramic material known as Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ), which is biocompatible, extremely hard and shatter-resistant. Due to these qualities, it's already used in applications such as dental crowns and hip replacements. The material also has a very low porosity, which allows targeted ultrasound waves to easily pass through during repeated treatment sessions. .The window would overcome this proiblems.A previous version of the technology has already been developed to let therapeutic laser light pulses get through to the brain, which is currently in pre-clinical trials.Study co-leader Prof. Guillermo Aguilar said: ''Developing an optically and radio-frequency transparent cranial implant was already an exciting accomplishment.“We continue to work to make this implant a reality.”''Proving that ultrasound could be transmitted through the implant could expand its thera
