  • A 75-year-old man suffering from a rare disease has grown a Hellboy-like horn on his head. Shyamal Lal Yadav, hailing from Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh in central India, suffered an injury on his head five years ago. Yadav claims that a horn-like structure started developing in the middle of his head after that. Yadav saw several doctors, but ‘all of them looked clueless’. He finally got the horn sliced with the help of a barber. “I thought to myself finally I had got good riddance from the devil’s horn. But my happiness was short-lived,” said Yadav. As feared, the horn started to grow back on his head and he was completely clueless about his next course of action Fortunately, the growth did not cause any physical discomfort or snowball into a medical issue. But, it had certainly made him a laughing stock. He was embarrassed to roam around in public with the unnatural growth on his head. “I kept doing the rounds of hospitals, but nothing happened. Then I asked my barber to cut the horn with the shaving blade. He did manage to cut it off, but the horn grew back in some time at the same spot,” said the ‘real-life Hellboy’. According to Yadav, he travelled to Bhopal (around 170km from Sagar) and Nagpur (around 388km from his home) to consult senior experts, however, had to come back as he could not afford the cost of the operation. The medical fraternity was in a tizzy as they hadn’t witnessed anything like that. His quest finally ended at a private clinic run by Dr. Vishal Gajbhiye in his home town Sagar. Dr. Gajbhiye said,” “The four-inch horn was solid and had sizable thickness.” The physician carried out a CT scan to ensure that the horn wasn’t deep enough to require the intervention of a neurosurgeon. The physician went ahead with the head surgery to remove the horn. After the horn was removed, the surgeons used the skin of Yadav’s forehead to fill up the gap through plastic surgery. • Princess Diana’s niece Lady Kitty Spencer looks like a million dollars in Bvlgari jewels after being snapped up as new ambassador for the luxury Italian brand. The 27-year-old model is following in her aunty’s fashionable footsteps and has picked up a string of modeling gigs of late, with industry experts estimating her new deal with Bvlgari could be in the region of £1 million ($1.3 million USD). Earlier this year Kitty, who was just six years old when Princess Diana died in a car crash, starred in her first modeling campaign with Dolce & Gabbana and walked the runway for the brand’s Spring/ Summer 2018 collection in March. • A McDonalds once branded the “ugliest building in Rotterdam” is enjoying a new lease of life as the poshest Maccies in the world. Looking more like a modern art gallery with glass floor-to-ceiling windows, this recently refurbished McDonalds in the Dutch city of Rotterdam is possibly the poshest in the world. Located on the iconic Coolsingel in the city’s “Cool District” - the fast-food eatery comes complete with grand central spiral staircase leading to the second floor and also boasts an outside terrace so customers can enjoy their Big Macs al fresco if they desire. The seats are upholstered in fine leather and the tables are made from marble while outside the perforated golden facade gives the location an extra special dazzling appeal and is a far cry from it’s former dated boxy appearance. The restaurant was completed at the end of 2015 after design firm Mei Architects were brought in to overhaul the dated building. And after a very fast construction the newly re-modeled building was completed in just two months. 09 Nov 2017 Pictured: This recently refurbished McDonalds in Rotterdam in The Netherlands is possibly the poshest in the world with floor-to-ceiling glass frontage and a perforated gold facade. • August 2, 2017 - inconnu - Mini-robots could help keep fashions changing – while still being worn.Tiny droids which stick to clothes and move over them changing the pattern or design have been revealed by researchers.Project Kino is a collaborative effort with designers from London's Royal College of Art and technicians from two US universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford. The research explores ways these wearables could open up new aesthetic and functional clothing possibilities. The tiny robots can navigate over a person's clothes through a magnetic drive system. The magnet underneath the fabric holds the robot in place while the device itself can be controlled either autonomously or by the wearer. Project Kino has been investigating ways the wearable robotic technology could be applied. From an aesthetic perspective, the devices can act as pattern-changing devices, shifting around a wearer's chest to create moving geometric effects. They could also be used as moving jewellery, with several bots creating different shapes and designs depending on the wearer's preferences.Other aesthetic experiments involve etching patterns that leave visible tracks on fabrics such as velvet. They could also be used to create shape-changing garments that can morph into different forms.Functionally the robots could also act as on-body microphones or climate-reactive clothing that adapts to the surrounding environment. One of the examples proposed was a robot controlling a scarf or the drawstrings on a hood. The research team has also conducted a series of interviews with people who tried some of the applications to see if it is something there might be a demand for.One of the major outcomes was the suggestion the devices needed further miniaturization. Another was that the system could be used as an intimate communication device for connecting with remotely located loved ones. One of those quizzed said he would be interested in letting the robot be controlle

This lets it move backwards and forwards even in very tight spaces. It is equipped with cameras and additional sensors, for example a microphone, to make recordings possible in hard-to-reach areas such as a collapsed building in rescue work. The recordings can be sent to a receiving station immediately or stored in the device for later extraction. The device , which is still being developed, was rewarded with a special mention at the German Design Award. It rewards ground-breaking work in communication and product design.A spokesman for Emami Design said:” Flexibility and mobility, if nothing else, make RoboWorm with its camera and microphone a life-saving helper in earthquake zones where robots can for instance localise buried persons in collapsed building or under snow or rock avalanches.” # ROBOT VER DE TERRE (Credit Image: © Visual via ZUMA Press)
