Around ₹1,000 crore is expected from the deal. The port trust currently makes an annual payout of ₹300 crore for its 30,000 pensioners. It also has 5,300 employees on the pay roll.....Babu voiced concern over the deep draft Subarnarekha port in Balasore district of Odisha and the proposed Tajpur port (Purba Medinipur district) in West Bengal posing challenges to the Haldia port.....According to him, the Tajpur port can take away 40 per cent of Haldia's cargo, while the Dhamra port can take away 10-15 per cent of Haldia’s container cargo in the long run. Subarnarekha is likely to be a short-term competitor. (Credit Image: © Debajyoti Chakraborty/NurPhoto via ZUMA Press)

  • November 9, 2018 - Istanbul, Turkey - Since the beginning of Justice and Development Party's (AKP) power, Turkey and especially the large cities has had a great increase in the construction sector. The government suggests new projects in different parts of Istanbul and other cities, despite the improper physical conditions and the negative advices of experts. Haydarpasa Port Project in Istanbul is one of these projects. The large silos on the riprap area at Haydarpasa were built with other structures such as warehouses, customs office, port police, power plant in order to create a port during the 1900s. These structures which maintained their service until 2005 were closed down in that year for the Haydarpasa Port Project and haven't been used since then.
