  • EXCLUSIVE: By Sudipto Maity in India An Indian man complaining of stomach ache had over 100 iron nails removed from his intestine by doctors. The operation took place on Monday in the country's north west Rajasthan state. Reports said 42-year-old Bhola Shankar had reached the government hospital in Bundi town , complaining of excruciating pain. However, it was after conducting the initial tests that doctors were left baffled. X-ray of the patient showed a cluster of a rather unusual item in the man's stomach. A CT scan confirmed the suspicion. Operating on the patient, a team of surgeons, led by Dr Anil Saini, recovered and removed at least 116 iron nails. The team also shot a video of the operation, which showed nails being extracted from the intestine of the patient. Saini said, "This is the first such case I have come across," The doctor added it may be the first time something like this took place in Rajasthan. In 2017, doctors had removed at least 150 stationary pins from a patient's stomach in the same town. "What surprised us was the length of the nails. They measured 6.5 centimetres. To have such big iron nails removed from a patient's body is unprecedented," the senior doctor added. He also called it a bizarre case. Meanwhile, doctors have deemed the patient mentally imbalanced. "The patient is not able to narrate how the nails ended up in his intestine," Saini said, adding, "He is lucky the sharp objects did not puncture his organs, else, it could have proved fatal." The patient's younger brother said the former has been taking medicine for mental illness for the last two and half decades. However, he too couldn't explain how the nails ended up there. Doctors believe the man was in the habit of swallowing sharp objects as apart from the nails, doctors also extracted metal wires. Despite the lengthy operation, the patient was recovering well. 13 May 2019 Pictured: Family members pay a visit to Patient Bhola Shankar recovering at a state-run hospital in Bund

However, it was after conducting the initial tests that doctors were left baffled. X-ray of the patient showed a cluster of a rather unusual item in the man's stomach. • This three-eyed snake - which has been dubbed 'Monty Python' - was found on the road in Australia. Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife found the reptile on the Arnhem Highway near the small town of Humpty Doo, approximately 40km from Darwin. Rangers said the juvenile snake, a baby carpet python, measured around 40cm in length. "The snake is peculiar as an X-ray revealed it was not two separate heads forged together, rather it appeared to be one skull with an additional eye socket and three functioning eyes," a spokesperson for the organization said. "It was generally agreed that the eye likely developed very early during the embryonic stage of development." The snake was found in March and after three weeks in captivity it passed away. It is believed that the snake's extra eye meant it was struggling to eat, and as a result it became malnourished. Snake expert Professor Bryan Fry said: "I haven't seen a three-eyed snake before, but we have a two-headed carpet python in our lab - it's just a different kind of mutation like what we see with Siamese twins." • The second of the formerly conjoined twin girls who was separated in a seven-hour surgery earlier this year has been discharged after spending 482 days in hospital. Hope Elizabeth Richards was allowed home last week [April 25, 2018], eight weeks after her sister Anna Grace was discharged from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston on March 2. Her mother Jill Richards said: “This is the moment it all feels real. “We are so excited for Hope to join Anna and her brothers at home. Our family is eternally thankful for the doctors, nurses, child life specialists, physical therapists and many others at Texas Children’s who took incredible care of our precious girls.” The twins, who are now aged 16 months, were successfully separated during a mammoth surgery that involved a multidisciplinary 75-strong team of surgeons on January 13. The sisters were previously conjoined at their chest and abdomen, through the length of their torso and shared the chest wall, pericardial sac (lining of the heart), diaphragm and liver. The girls were delivered via C-section on 29 December, 2016, at 35 weeks gestation. The Richards family, from North Texas, learned Jill was carrying conjoined twins during a routine ultrasound. The family was then referred to Texas Children's Fetal Center, where they underwent extensive prenatal testing, consultation and development of plans to achieve a safe delivery and postnatal care.  They temporarily relocated to Houston in order to deliver at Texas Children’s and be close to the girls during their hospital stay. 25 Apr 2018 Pictured: CAPTION: Formerly conjoined twin girl Hope Elizabeth Richards is released from Texas Children’s Hospital on April 25, 2018, and her sister Anna Grace, who was discharged six weeks prior, was there to meet her sibling. • This is the Nevada prison former NFL star O.J. Simpson is hoping he will be released from on parole from after languishing there for nine years on armed robbery and kidnapping felonies. The 70-year-old felon, a sports icon of his day, has been serving a 33 year sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center since 2008, but is now eligible for parole. On Thursday (July 20) the Nevada Board Of Parole will convene to consider the case and if the hearing goes to plan Simpson could be released as early as October 1. These photos show the typical quarters Simpson is living in at the 1,680-inmate facility, which first opened in 1995 and has a staff of more than 200 corrections officers. Other facilities include an indoor basketball court — providing an opportunity for “The Juice” to show off some of his sporting prowess to fellow inmates. Simpson entered Lovelock in 2008 after being convicted for the 2007 robbery of sport memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas. In 2016 former corrections officer Jeffrey Felix released a book about his relationship with Simpson at Lovelock, titled “Guarding The Juice.” In the book he recalled a saga of an illicit cookie shortly after Simpson arrived, in which an inmate working in the kitchens stole cookies and brought them back to the unit where Simpson was. According to Felix, Simpson ate the cookie in plain view and was written up over the incident. However, Felix says he managed to convince the female guard to tear up the report, saying she would forever been known as “the cookie monster”. This decision could ultimately help Simpson at this parole review this week, Felix has surmised. Earlier in 1995, Simpson was acquitted of the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman during length legal proceedings that were dubbed “the trial of the Century.” Simpson was found liable for the killings two years later in a 1997 civil case. 18 Jul 2017 Pictured: O.J. 13 May 2019 Pictured: Doctors removed as many as 115 iron nails from man's stomach at a state-run hospital in Bundi
