  • EXCLUSIVE: A Great Dane who didn’t like cats has stopped a kitten going blind by donating blood used in sight-saving eye drops. Huge dog Harlie, who weighs around nine stone, put her best paw forward to give blood used to treat Zephyr the rescued kitten. Vets treated eight-week-old Zephyr with serum drops which used elements of Harlie’s blood after it has been separated using a centrifuge. The liquid part of the blood is made into drops which help the surface of the eye to heal and stop the tissue breaking down. Rescuers feared the worst for Zephyr but her sight has now been saved thanks to her huge donor friend Harlie. Steph Taylor, from charity Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary, said Zephyr was found with three siblings under a shed in Liverpool, England. She said: “They were all full of flu which had led to secondary pneumonia, horrific conjunctivitis with ulcerated eyes, ticks, severe flea infestation leading to anaemia and dehydration. “The serum from Harlie was fairly unusual for us to use and we have never done it before, there are several types of conventional medicated drops and we used these first but as Zephyr was not responding to these, our vet suggested it. “We had heard of it once before when another rescue spoke about it and they had amazing results. “We have four dogs at our HQ but sadly none were suitable blood donors due to their size, age or health problems so we had to turn to the public for help… and along came Harlie.” Harlie’s owner Jess said she wanted to help but at first she feared Harlie wasn’t used to cats and it might not be a good idea for her to meet Zephyr in person. Jess, 30, a foster carer from Liverpool, England, said meeting Zephyr was the first time her huge hound had met a feline in person. Jess, who has three other dogs, a Staffordshire bull terrier, and two shih tzu Yorkshire terriers, said she wanted to help after seeing an appeal for blood donors to produce the serum used for the eye drops. She said: “We were

  • EXCLUSIVE: **NO WEB UNTIL 6pm GMT 20th August** The world’s first transgender ref made her debut at QPR’s training ground in London. Taxi driver Lucy Clark, 46, took charge of hundreds of non-league games as Nick but revealed at the weekend how she felt trapped in a man’s body. Lucy, who has three kids, reffed QPR’s female youth team v Parkwood Ladies at the Championship side’s West London training ground. QPR’s Jess Painter said after her side’s 4-2 win: “The ref was great — one of the best we’ve ever had.” With a pink whistle and a ponytail, the arm-tattooed official formerly known as Nick booked one woman for a scything tackle in the second half during the home side's 4-2 win. Lucy was watched by supportive wife Avril from the sidelines and Kellie Moloney, the former boxing promoter called Frank who became a woman. Dressed all in black, Lucy showed no nerves officiating during the London and South East Women's Football's Premier League opening day clash. 18 Aug 2018 Pictured: Lucy Clark. They are neighbors of the old industrial district of Pueblo Nuevo (Barcelona) and they suffer immobiliary pressure. Their apartment has been bought by an investment fund that does not intend to renew the rental contract, which has forced them to move to a new residence. The circumstance occurs that Sandra's great-grandfather already occupied the house and Sandra has lived in it for 46 years. (Credit Image: © Paco Freire/SOPA Images via ZUMA Wire)

  • ***PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE. NO WEB UNTIL 4.15 GMT JULY 12 *** These are the exclusive first pictures of Minka Kelly and Jesse Williams stepping out together in public. The rumored new couple were seen leaving a movie theater together in West Hollywood, CA on Friday, July 7. Reports claim the Friday Night Lights star, 37, had been spending time with Williams, 35, since they worked on a video games project together in Paris. An onlooker said: "The pair were trying to not be noticed and were seen leaving the Sunset 5 movie theatre in West Hollywood. They both had baseball caps and looked dressed down and very low-key. They were seen in a car park after watching the movie The Beguiled.” Minka dated baseball player Derek Jeter from 2008 to 2011, reuniting again briefly in 2012. Williams is in the midst of a bitter custody battle for his two children, son Maceo, aged one, and daughter Sadie, who is three, pending his divorce from wife Aryn Drake-Lee. He filed the divorce petition in April after fours and half years’ marriage, although the couple were together for 13 years, long before his acting career took off. The Grey’s Anatomy actor has opened up about the well-publicised divorce in Jay-Z's Footnotes For 4:44 video, in which he makes reference to cheating rumours surrounding his marriage. He says: 'I was in a relationship 13 years, 13 real years, not 5 years, not 7 years, 13 years and all of a sudden mother f***ers are writing think-pieces that I somehow threw a 13-year relationship. Like thee most painful experience I’ve had in my life like with a person I’ve loved with all of my heart, that I threw a person and my family in the trash because a girl I work with is cute.' Neither Kelly or Williams has commented on speculation their relationship has transitioned from professional to personal. 07 Jul 2017 Pictured: Minka Kelly, Jesse Williams. • May 16, 2017 - Fort Campbell, Kentucky, U.S. - By taking leave in May instead of April so he could see his little sister graduate from high school, Army Spc. Jesse Thepouhthay missed out on one of his favorite holidays -- New Year. Most Americans generally associate New Year's celebrations with Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. However, Thepouhthay and his family celebrate Laotian New Year in April. The tradition is carried on by his family in his home town in Arkansas. Food is an important part of the celebration, and missing out on spicy papaya salad this year was a bit of a disappointment, Thepouhthay said. Pictured: Army Spc. Thepouhthay's role model is his father, who immigrated to America from Laos. (Credit Image: ? Leejay Lockhart/Army/DOD via ZUMA Wire/ZUMAPRESS.com)
