  • Here is the run-down home of alleged GoFundMe scammers, Mark D’Amico and Kate McClure. The pair, allegedly in cahoots with former U.S. Marine, Johnny Bobbitt Jr., are charged with starting a GoFundMe campaign, of which they are accused of conspiring to fabricate and promote a feel-good story that would compel donors to contribute to their cause. Visible on the grounds of the property are fire pit, an empty hot tub and a full astray. The couple faces trial on Christmas Eve. **NO NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, NO NEW YORK TIMES, NO NEWSDAY**. 15 Nov 2018 Pictured: Dirty ashtray at McClure and D'Amico's home. • It was a tale that warmed hearts around the world — a homeless vet forking over his last $20 to help a distressed driver gas up her car in the dead of night. But the truth is more stomach-turner than heart-warmer. The hero, the woman he “saved” and her boyfriend were a trio of scam artists who knew each other for a month before the so-called chance encounter — and the $400,000 they raised on GoFundMe was blown on luxury items and gambling trips that included a lavish New Year’s trip to Las Vegas, officials said Thursday. “The entire campaign was predicated on a lie,” said Burlington County, NJ, prosecutor Scott Coffina in announcing criminal charges against couple Mark D’Amico and Kate McClure and vagrant Johnny Bobbitt. “[McClure] did not run out of gas on an I-95 off-ramp, and [Bobbitt] did not spend his last $20 to help her,” Coffina said. “Rather, D’Amico, McClure and Bobbitt conspired to fabricate and promote a feel-good story that would compel donors to contribute to their cause.” **NO NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, NO NEW YORK TIMES, NO NEWSDAY**. 15 Nov 2018 Pictured: Scott Coffina. • Tiger King star Joe Exotic — who is currently languishing in federal prison after being convicted in 2019 on murder-for-hire charges for a plot to kill Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin, as well as federal animal abuse charges — is not the only star of the Netflix show to have felt the long arm of the law… Joshua Dial was hired by Joe to run his failed bids for President Of The United States in 2016 and Oklahoma Governor in 2017. Dial, 31, has been arrested at least five times over the years. The former Walmart worker, who used to manage the sale of guns an ammo before working for Joe, is seen here in two mugshots. The first dates back to when he was just 21 when he was arrested for marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in February 2011. Six months later he was arrested again, this time for DUI and drug possession follow by another DUI arrest in 2012. The second mugshot shows Dial in 2017 following his arrest for felony assault and battery. The probable cause states that Dial: 'Cut/Stabbed/Slashed (victim) with a Japan Ninja Sword called a Katana.  'The victim has a large cut on the left forearm that appeared to be bleeding. 'The laceration was 11 cm x 4cm in size, the victim was sent to St. Anthony's hospital in Oklahoma City via Air Evacuation.' Dial made a plea of no contest to an amended misdemeanor charge of unlawful carry and was forced to surrender the sword as part of the plea agreement. Dial — who in October 2017 witnessed Joe’s third husband Travis Maldonado commit suicide using a gun — now attends a university in Oklahoma and has set up a GoFundMe account to pay for his mental health care following his traumatic experience while working for Joe. 23 Apr 2020 Pictured: Joshua Dial, former campaign manager of Tiger King star Joe Exotic, seen in mugshot photographs: LOCAL CAPTION: February 2011. • zReportage.com Story of the Week # 633 - Trapped In Isolation - Launched June 9, 2017 - Full multimedia experience: audio, stills, text and or video: Go to zReportage.com to see more - Nestled in remote hills 1,300 feet above the Big Sur, California coastline, the New Camaldoli Hermitage has been a popular retreat for world-weary visitors in need of solitude since it was founded in 1958. That changed in early 2017 after a series of powerful winter storms called "atmospheric rivers" - which climate scientists predict will worsen if climate change accelerates - dumped over 100 inches of rain on coastal California, stirring up landslides and damaging bridges along the famous Highway 1. One especially massive slide on May 21st added 13 acres of land to the California coastline and is expected to keep the southern route closed for at least one year. Now cut off from the outside world, a small handful of monks and staff persist at the Hermitage, carrying on in their austere lifestyles devoted to prayer and contemplation while depending on regular food drops from helicopters and rationed propane. The monastery has been unable to receive the stream of visitors they normally depend on for income and have started a GoFundMe to help raise money to survive. The damage has cost the monastery an estimated $300,000 since hospitality is their main source of income. (Credit Image: ? Elijah Hurwitz/zReportage.com via ZUMA Wire)
