  • May 1, 2019 - Matochina, Bulgaria - A view of Bukelon fortress near the village of Matochina in Southeastern Bulgaria. Bukelon is the best-preserved fortress of the late Middle Ages in today's Bulgarian lands. The local population is trying to keep this unique fortress from the raids of people living in the nearby villages that break it down to build houses. Tens of years ago, many of the houses in the region were built with stones from the fortress, after which a program to preserve it began, and now many people have decided to take stones from there to build houses, fences and other buildings. Local residents also worry about the raids of refugees coming from Turkey because the fortress and the village are about 500 meters from the border. The height of the remains of the tower is about 18 meters and they represent a magnificent view, filling the panorama of the region. The tourist flow in the area has been drastically reduced due to their concerns about refugee entry and the danger of the collapse of the fortress as a result of its indiscriminate long-standing demolition. On April 14, 1205, the Adrianople battle took place in which Tsar Kaloyan's armies defeated the knights of the Fourth Crusade and captured the master of the Latin Empire Baldwin I Flanders. • Bill Cosby has entered general population at the Pennsylvanian where the convicted sex offender began his sentence four months ago. The 81-year-old former actor was initially placed in special housing at SCI Phoenix — a new maximum security prison that opened last year. Now Cosby — who is legally blind — is in a single cell in a two-storey unit at the facility in Montgomery County. Fellow inmates have been assigned to assist him throughout the day due to his age and disability, according to state prison spokeswoman Amy Worden. The 3,830-bed, handicap-accessible facility is staffed by 1,200 full-time employees and sprawls across 164 acres inside its double ring of razor wire fences and has a 1.5 mile perimeter. The prison offers programs including sex offender treatment, victim awareness and impact of crime classes. Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison on September 25, 2018, following his conviction earlier that year for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constrand in 2004. 07 Feb 2019 Pictured: Bill Cosby has been moved into general population at SCI Phoenix, a maximum security prison in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. • EXCLUSIVE: Dressed head to toe in black and wielding broomsticks like guns, a band of assailants in helmets burst through the doors shouting and screaming like terrorists. As instructed, 5-year-old Flor Edwards hid under the stairs with the other children before the invaders hunted them down and pretended to shoot them dead. After remaining still for a few minutes, the kids rose, trancelike, from the floor — lifting their arms as they mimed flying up to meet Jesus at heaven’s gates. “[The drill] was to prepare us for the apocalypse,” Edwards, now 36, told The Post. The routine “practice raids” were staged by adults in the notorious Children of God sect, of which her family were members, living in a compound hidden behind an 8-foot-tall fence in remote Thailand. “I was terrified,” she recalled. Now a teacher at a community college, Edwards left the scandal-ridden doomsday cult in her early teens and has written about her unconventional childhood in the memoir “Apocalypse Child: A Life in End Times” (Turner Publishing). 14 Jun 2018 Pictured: Flor Edwards. • EXCLUSIVE: Sella McCartney has infuriated her neighbours in The Hamptons by building a 5ft high sea wall that blocks her community’s decades-old private access to its beach. The fashion designer and husband Alasdhair (correct) Willis paid $1.7million for their three-bedroom ocean front home and adjoining land three years ago. But erosion is claimed to have destroyed 40 feet of frontage in just one year so they joined with an adjacent neighbour to build the wall to save both properties. However, the imposing 230ft wide sandbag structure also runs across a beach entrance road between the two homes that is for everyone living in the private avenue. It slopes up on the avenue side but has had a 5ft sheer drop on to the beach since October last year because a storm washed away the sand that made it resemble a dune. This has made it impossible for most of the residents, many of them elderly, to get down on to the beach. Some neighbours, many having lived for decades in the quiet lane in Amagansett, Long Island, New York, have now branded the designer, 47, arrogant and high-handed. Despite The Hamptons being a millionaires’ playground with high property prices, most residents in the private avenue have lived there for many years and hold down regular jobs or are retired. Stella and her family are believed to have spent part of last summer at the modest 1176 sq ft home. She has four children with Alasdhair, the creative director at boot brand Hunter. The couple advertised the home as a summer rental in 2017 for up to $30,000 a month. Stella’s dad Sir Paul, 77, has had a home in uber-fashionable Amagansett since the 1990s and pal Gwyneth Paltrow, 46, also has a house there. Stella and the neighbour’s wall went up in July last year. But her permit with East Hampton council expired in April. She is now applying for a time extension– but is willing to remove the sandbags across the 30ft wide access and run them round the side of her house, according to the latest pape
