  • Bonnie Tyler and Joe Jonas’s band DNCE performed a duet of her hit 1983 song “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” aboard one of the world’s largest cruise liners. The performance came just hours before the total solar eclipse, which left parts of North America dark as the moon eclipsed the sun on August 21. The 66-year-old Welsh singer teamed up with the American band aboard the Royal Caribbean “Total Eclipse Cruise” which sailed through the path of totality and the shadow of the moon. As the moon made its way to cover the sun for the celestial event, DNCE took center stage in “Oasis Of The Seas” open-air AquaTheater, performing the band’s chart-topping hits, including “Kissing Strangers,” “Body Moves” and “Cake by the Ocean.” The concert culminated in the ultimate performance by Tyler and DNCE, comprised of Jonas, Cole Whittle, JinJoo and Jack Lawless, as they sang a powerful remix of Tyler’s classic, paying tribute to the solar eclipse. Celebrity guests in the audience included Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell. The 7-night Total Eclipse Cruise set sail on August 20 from Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida and will visit Eastern Caribbean destinations including Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas;  and Nassau, Bahamas. 21 Aug 2017 Pictured: Bonnie Tyler and Joe Jonas's band DNCE performed her hit song "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" during the Great American Eclipse aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas on 21 August, 2017. • A total eclipse swept through the tiny town of Spring City, Tennessee on Monday afternoon. Thousands from all over the United States and a few from around the world flocked to the city with a population of under 2,000 (according to the 2010 census). The city is situated dead-center of the path of totality of the eclipse, providing a spectacular view and one of the longest durations of totality (over 2 minutes). There were no dedicated parking areas or viewing spots, so cars simply pulled into the town and parked wherever they could, lining up in rows down the streets and along the railroad tracks that run through the town. Local businesses were thriving with the influx, and many were sold out of ‘eclipse merchandise’ such as t-shirts within hours and were taking online orders for people who missed their chance to purchase a t-shirt on the spot. Eric Henson, manager at the Movie Depot, a movie-rental store, still had a few t-shirts and said his store was ‘doing great’ with all the new business. Another local resident, Amanda Gornik, came out to sell painted rocks that she decorated on the spot with eclipse images or anything a customer asked for. 21 Aug 2017 Pictured: Total eclipse in Spring City, Tennessee. • August 21, 2017 - Chicago, Illinois, USA - On August 21, 2017, the solar eclipse mesmerized people across the U.S. as the moon passed between the sun and earth. In Chicago, thousands headed toward the Adler Planetarium by car, by bus or by walking. The Museum handed out 35,000 pairs of special eclipse glasses so that individuals could safely experience this once in a lifetime phenomenon. The lakefront by the Planetarium also has one of the best views of the Chicago skyline. At 1:19 PM, the coverage reached its peak in Chicago- not quite reaching totality, but still quite impressive.
