• South Africa - Cape Town - 12 October 2020 - Today, 12 October 2020, Democratic Alliance (DA) Chief Whip, Natasha Mazzone MP, will lay criminal charges against the EFF leader, Julius Malema, and EFF Member of Parliament, Nazier Paulsen, over social media posts that incite violence.
Malema tweeted on Wednesday, “Magwala a chechele morago! (Cowards move to the back) Fighters attack!” and as a follow-up, over the weekend, he tweeted a picture of a machine gun. Echoing Malema's brazen incitement of violence, Paulsen posted a picture with a machine gun captioned “Get ready!”.
The South Africa Police Services (SAPS) has proven this week that it is capable of pursuing those who purportedly incite violence as was evident in the swift action taken against the alleged instigator of the violence at Senekal. We hope that the police will now apply the same energy in holding Melama and the EFF accountable with equal vigor.
The DA is of the view that both Malema and Paulsen must be held to account for their e incendiary posts. Picture Courtney Africa/African News Agency(ANA)
