  • October 9, 2016 - Boa Viagem, Brazil - Mr. José awaits customers to the parking lot where he works. José Belmiro dos Santos is 84 years old, married to Rosalia Maria da Conceição and has nine children. He is retired since 1997 and works in a parking taking care of vehicles. The parking lot is situated in an abandoned building in Boa Viagem, in Recife, Pernambuco state, Brazil.Mr. José has to live in the building and can only visit family once a month. He thinks it's dangerous, because the parking lot is located inside a slum, but need to earn cash and stay home another person can take his job.Mr. José is part of a national statistic that indicates an increase in the number of pensioners who return to work in Brazil, 5.9% in the first quarter of 2012 to 6.5% in the second quarter 2016 (data from the Brazilian Institute of geography and Statistics), due to the current economic crisis. The government of the current President Michel Temer has as one of the goals the approval of Welfare Reform, thus ensuring clearer rules for retirement and the increase in the contribution to the public coffers. The approval of new rules for retirement might take the Brazil of the crisis and increase a government approval rating scored by polemics and an impeachment questioned by the opposition. • EXCLUSIVE: FULL COPY ON REQUEST: Sir Richard Branson’s new cruise ship Scarlet Lady sits forlornly at dock in Miami along with four other giant liners yesterday (Sunday) as the usually heaving terminals resembled ghost towns because of the coronavirus crisis. Miami is the world’s busiest cruise port with 5.5million passengers a year. But yesterday at 4pm – when ships traditionally sail amid fanfare and horns blasting their farewell – there was an eerie silence. The Florida cruise port is usually bustling with excited passengers, truck and van deliveries of food and drink, rammed parking lots and packed lines of taxis in a cacophony of noise and mayhem. Yet yesterday there was hardly a soul about. The parking garages were virtually empty, the usually crammed individual terminals were lifeless and the roads were deserted. Apart from a handful of departing passengers only a few dejected port workers, who are about to be laid off, were milling around. One of the ships at dock in Miami yesterday (March 15) is at the center of controversy after it was revealed it had a passenger who tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. The passenger disembarked from MSC Meraviglia (correct) on March 8 after an eight-day Caribbean cruise. After the passenger got off, 103 others plus the vessels crew were left on board for the next voyage. Four days later, after the ship had sailed with thousands more people, the cruise line was told by Canadian authorities that the passenger had tested positive. Seven crew were isolated as a result. But instead of holding the ship off the Florida coast and testing everyone on board for COVID-19, MSC said US health authorities cleared the ship to dock in Miami yesterday (March 15) and for the 3,877 passengers to disembark as normal. As a result, thousands of people got off the ship without undergoing medical screening. 15 Mar 2020 Pictured: Cruise Ships. Photo credit: Greg Woodfield / MEGA TheMegaAgency.com +1 888 505 6342

  • EXCLUSIVE: SHOCKING IMAGES OF CAPE TOWN’S BONE-DRY DAM WHERE ONCE LOCALS USED TO GO BOATING AND WATER SKIING WITH PIX By Magnus News Agency Shocking images show a bone-dry desert where once boats used to sail on a reservoir as drought continues to ravage South Africa. Theewaterskloof Dam once hosted yacht clubs and water skiing but today not even one vessel could be launched on the parched space. Photographer Dirk Theron visited the starved body of water last week and took these frightening images of the dried-up lake which should supply 40 percent of the water to Cape Town’s four million residents. As Dirk’s pictures show, skeletons of fish and muddy pools are much of what remains of the former 480 million cubic metre capacity site. Last week billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg toured Theewaterskloof as part of his role as UN special Envoy for Climate Action. He warned the reservoir and draught across the Western Cape should act as a wake-up call for the international community on climate change. Despite the drought, which has struck the area for the past few years, government officials in South Africa have been criticised for their handling of the crisis. A ‘Day Zero’ when municipal taps would be turned off has been pushed back from June 4 to July 9 despite chronic shortages continuing. South African Dirk lives just 30 minutes from Theewaterskloof, but said he was stunned by what he found there. He said: “Theewaterskloof dam is one of those places where everybody has a boat and people would go there for the weekend. “A friend of mine used to be a member of the Theewaters sports club, we used to go there all the time water skiing and playing on the water in his boat. “This was a massive, massive body of water. It’s been a few years since last I’ve been there but when I saw it I was shocked to my core. “We all know about the water crisis but standing there and seeing it with your own eyes is so surreal. “I stood on dry ground
