  • EXCLUSIVE: A Great Dane who didn’t like cats has stopped a kitten going blind by donating blood used in sight-saving eye drops. Huge dog Harlie, who weighs around nine stone, put her best paw forward to give blood used to treat Zephyr the rescued kitten. Vets treated eight-week-old Zephyr with serum drops which used elements of Harlie’s blood after it has been separated using a centrifuge. The liquid part of the blood is made into drops which help the surface of the eye to heal and stop the tissue breaking down. Rescuers feared the worst for Zephyr but her sight has now been saved thanks to her huge donor friend Harlie. Steph Taylor, from charity Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary, said Zephyr was found with three siblings under a shed in Liverpool, England. She said: “They were all full of flu which had led to secondary pneumonia, horrific conjunctivitis with ulcerated eyes, ticks, severe flea infestation leading to anaemia and dehydration. “The serum from Harlie was fairly unusual for us to use and we have never done it before, there are several types of conventional medicated drops and we used these first but as Zephyr was not responding to these, our vet suggested it. “We had heard of it once before when another rescue spoke about it and they had amazing results. “We have four dogs at our HQ but sadly none were suitable blood donors due to their size, age or health problems so we had to turn to the public for help… and along came Harlie.” Harlie’s owner Jess said she wanted to help but at first she feared Harlie wasn’t used to cats and it might not be a good idea for her to meet Zephyr in person. Jess, 30, a foster carer from Liverpool, England, said meeting Zephyr was the first time her huge hound had met a feline in person. Jess, who has three other dogs, a Staffordshire bull terrier, and two shih tzu Yorkshire terriers, said she wanted to help after seeing an appeal for blood donors to produce the serum used for the eye drops. • Soleil Moon Frye has cause for double celebration after reaching her weight goal of dropping 42lbs — appropriately just in time for her 42nd birthday. The Punky Brewster star, who has four children with her television producer husband Jason Goldberg, showed off the results as she celebrated her birthday poolside with her best friends in Venice Beach, California. Soleil shed the pounds with the help of meal delivery and weight-loss plan Nutrisystem, for which she is an ambassador. The actress, who turned 42 on August 6, was pictured with her best friends taking a dip in the pool, and also enjoyed a spot of spa time, shopping and dining. Soleil joined the Nutrisystem plan in 2015, the year following the birth of her third child, son Lyric Sonny Roads, and turned to the program once again after the birth of her second son, Story, the next year. Along with eating healthily, Soleil — who also has two daughters, Poet Sienna Rose and Jagger Joseph Blue — works out with a trainer so she can focus on toning her body.  She said: ‘After Story was born, I knew I wanted to join Nutrisystem again to help me lose the baby weight since it worked so well the first time. This last year, I’ve been focused on keeping up with my health habits and wanted to get those last few pounds off. ‘I’m excited to say that I am finally at my goal weight of 42 pounds lost! ‘For me, it’s about feeling like my best self and I feel better than now I did in my twenties.’ Talking about juggling four kids with her weight loss goal, Soleil went on: ‘I’m also a busy mom of four beautiful kids and I know I need to lead by example so I’m not going to starve myself in front of them. ‘We love cooking as a family, and being able to teach my kids about food is a great way for me to stay on track, but also show them that mommy is healthy and happy.’  Speaking about her birthday celebration in Los Angeles. • **PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE** Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s former right hand woman, tucks into burger and fries at a fast-food joint in Los Angeles. Maxwell, 57, the alleged madam to the multi-millionaire paedophile, was spotted with shake al fresco at an In-N-Out Burger on Monday Aug 12 while reading “The Book of Honor: The Secret Lives and Deaths of CIA Operatives,” a nonfiction best seller by journalist Ted Gup. Sitting alone with her pet dog, she was surprised to be found and told a member of the public who immediately recognised her, and took the amazing photographs , “Well, I guess this is the last time I’ll be eating here!” Maxwell, accused in court papers of providing sex slaves for Epstein and engaging in threesomes with the financier and underage girls, had not been photographed in public since 2016. The daughter of the late, disgraced publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell has not been charged with any crimes but could find herself in the feds’ crosshairs following Epstein’s apparent jailhouse suicide Saturday. One of Epstein’s accusers, Jennifer Araoz, on Wednesday sued his estate, as well as Maxwell and three unidentified women for conspiring “to make possible and otherwise facilitate the sexual abuse and rape of [Araoz].” It’s not the first time Maxwell has been accused of luring young women and girls into the convicted pedophile’s web. Another accuser, Virginia Giuffre — who has said she had sex with England’s Prince Andrew and noted attorney Alan Dershowitz at Epstein’s command — sued the socialite for defamation in 2015 after Maxwell publicly stated Giuffre was lying about being sexually abused by Epstein. Giuffre claimed Maxwell recruited her when she was a 16-year-old spa attendant at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., and trained her to be Epstein’s sex slave. • Cristiano Ronaldo packs a punch in a new photoshoot to promote his new superhero-inspired line of underwear. The 34-year-old Portuguese footballer shows off his impressive physique and rippling abs as he models a series of form-fitting boxer shorts from the Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection. The Juventus FC star poses in a range of briefs in front of a series of comic book style backdrops emblazoned with words including ‘strength, power, belief’. Speaking of the new line, the father-of-four said: ‘Everyone knows that underwear is one of the best parts of any superhero’s wardrobe and I believe that everyone has their own superpowers. For the SS19 CR7 Underwear campaign I was asked what mine are and I encourage my fans to identify and celebrate theirs.’ Referring to his ‘superpowers’, Ronaldo went on: ‘The first is Power. Everyone has their own power — it’s all about finding the unique power in you. Mine comes from training hard to become physically powerful but also from having the power to inspire others to work hard for their dreams, which is something I am really passionate about and grateful for. ‘Strength is an essential superpower. I don’t just focus on keeping my body strong, but my mind too. Both physical and mental strength are equally important to me and something I work hard to achieve. ‘Belief is key. It’s so important to have self-belief and to also believe in and uplift the people around you. I have a great team, so it’s easy to have belief in what we can achieve. ‘And, of course, my secret superpower- my CR7 Underwear. I always feel my best, my most confident when I’m wearing CR7 Underwear.’ The Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection is available online and from select retailers worldwide. 24 Apr 2019 Pictured: Cristiano Ronaldo models a series of form-fitting boxer shorts from the Spring/Summer 2019 CR7 Underwear collection. • David and Victoria Beckham and their brood are living it up in a $6,500-a-night hotel after escaping the deadly Bali earthquake zone. The family had been enjoying a luxury retreat in Bali, but following an earthquake in the neighboring island of Lombok last week that left at least 321 dead, the football ace decided to evacuate his family 450 miles away from the disaster zone to a private island of Sumba near Indonesia. David and Victoria along with their children Brooklyn, 19, Romeo 15, Cruz 12, and Harper, 7, arrived at the Nihi resort on Sunday, according to media reports, and are staying in a stunning four-bedroom villa complete with its own pool, which goes for $6,500-a-night. But according to reports, the hotel — which has twice been voted the best hotel in the world by travel writers — is putting the Beckhams up for free. The family arrived to the island on Sunday and are said to have flown in by private jet before being whisked off to the Nihi resort in a SUV. As these photos shows, the stunning resort is the picture-perfect paradise and is located close to one of the region’s best surfing beaches. The resort boasts 27 villas and 38 rooms ranging in size, with all accommodations having a private pool, and the hotel is set on a 2.5km stretch of private beach and surrounded by lush greenery. The hotels asks guests who visit the local villages to wear appropriate clothing, including a sarong — so David should fee right at home — and a T-shirt that covers the shoulders. David and the boys have reportedly enjoyed surfing during their stay, while former Spice Girls Victoria and Harper have been pampered in the hotel’s spa. 13 Aug 2018 Pictured: David Beckham and his family are staying at the ultra luxurious Nihi resort on the private island of Sumba near Indonesia after escaping the Bali earthquake zone. William Demont 'Happy' Evans Jr, played for the prestigious Homestead Grays in the American Negro League, for black players when US baseball was segregated. Evan’s Grandson, William Demont Evans IV described how Meghan’s relative was one of the true greats. Speaking at his home in Pomona, southern California, Evans, 61, told the Mail Online: "Bill Evans played against the great Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. He actually told me that Josh Gibson [his Homestead Grays teammate] was a better hitter than the great Babe Ruth. "Gibson was the catcher on the Grays and had one of the best RBIs in the league, white or black. "The 1930-31 Homestead Grays were supposed to be one of the greatest teams ever, that year they even played against a white All-Star team with the best Major League players and beat them. "Soon after that the White All-Stars didn't want to play them anymore. My grandfather said that many negro players if they were white would have been the All-Star players of the Major League.". 15 Jun 2018 Pictured: William Demont 'Happy' Evans Jr,. • Lourdes Leon proudly shows off her hairy pits in a new collaborative campaign between Converse and New York youth brand MadeMe. The 21-year-old model, who is Madonna’s daughter, is less Queen Of Pop in the photos and instead channels the NYC riot grrrl movement, defined by the city’s “queer, fashion and rave cultures”. Lourdes models a series of shoes and apparel from the collection, including a sleeveless, midriff-baring vest top in which she holds her arm aloft to reveal her unshaven armpits. Striking her best moody poses, Lourdes proves the perfect fit for the women’s apparel and footwear collection, which plays to the “cool girl”. Creative director Erin Magee explained the target customer was an “independent” woman who will “take risks and not worry about what everyone else is wearing or doing. “It’s a girl who is attracted to authenticity and wants to explore street, rave, queer and 90s subculture.” The collection centers around a platform One Star – a sneaker that enjoyed a stint on the 90s rave scene due to its colorful spectrum, and one that Erin Magee herself had purchased on Etsy, just months prior to connecting with Converse on the collaboration. The collection launched on May 24 with prices ranging from £25 to £90 ($33 to $120) on converse.com and Dover Street Market London. 24 May 2018 Pictured: Lourdes Leon stars in a campaign for a new women’s apparel and footwear collection in a collaboration between Converse and New York youth brand MadeMe.
