  • 170507-N-LC424-1190 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 7, 2017) Hull Technician 3rd Class Tessa Williams, a New York native, assigned to the engineering department of amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), welds in the ship’s Machine Shop. More than 1,800 Sailors and 2,600 Marines assigned to the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are currently conducting a Composite Unit Training Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of Southern California in preparation for the ARG’s deployment later this year.   • PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 26, 2018) The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), both a part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), are underway  alongside the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) amphibious transport dock ship JS Osumi (LST 4001) during a passing exercise (PASSEX) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 26, 2018. PASSEX enabled the Wasp ARG and the JMSDF a chance to practice communications and maneuvering procedures.
