Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio is selling the home he bought with his ‘Titanic’ pay-cheque.
He originally snapped up the home for $769,500 almost 20 years ago after he rocketed to worldwide superstardom in the tear-jerking epic. Now the Spanish-style property in the hills above Los Angeles’s Silver Lake Reservoir is up for sale for $1.749 million.
A family member had previously been living in it for a long time. Built in 1931, it appears to have been kept in great shape in the decades since its construction and boasts lots of original details including hardwood and parquet floors, beamed ceilings, arched entryways, French doors, an elegant living room fireplace, and some incredible bathroom tile.
The 3,560-square home has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
There’s a formal dining room, a large kitchen which needs updated and a library/study.
The master bedroom suite has its own sitting room. It has a lift which services all three levels including an expensive, part-underground level that incorporates workshop and hobby areas plus a bunker-like garage that will park three or more cars.
Outside, there’s a securely gated courtyard with a koi pond, a swimming pool and an outdoor movie screen with a projection system.
DiCaprio owns an extensive property including two beachfront properties in Malibu. He recently splashed out $4.91 million on Moby’s home. His mum is thought to be now living in it.
