Hotspots: Cape Winelands District

Add to Lightbox Download

A small child wearing a facemask is seen at a volunteer food drive in Mountain View, an informal settlement in Jamestown, located in the Cape Winelands District, on Saturday, May 29, 2020. It's estimated that most, if not all, of the households here had no income, due to unemployement during lockdown. Cape Winelands is one of the districts in the Western Cape that has been designated a hotspot area, in terms of people testing positive for COVID-19. When South Africa moves down to Stage 3 of the nationwide lockdown on June 1st, hotspots areas will remain under stricter regulation and surveillance, per the latest government announcements.
