Adderley Street Trams.jpg
In this 1939 picture, an electric double-decker tram trundles ponderously on rails past the Standard Bank building in Adderley Street. Opposite is one of the newer trams, which didn’t need rails, and ran between Sea Point and the terminus in Wynberg. Fletcher & Cartwrights’ department store can be seen at the junction of Adderley and Darling streets.
