USS Wasp and USS Ashland are underway a passing exercise in the Philippine Sea.
Add to Lightbox DownloadPHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 26, 2018) The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), both a part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), are underway alongside the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) amphibious transport dock ship JS Osumi (LST 4001) during a passing exercise (PASSEX) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 26, 2018. PASSEX enabled the Wasp ARG and the JMSDF a chance to practice communications and maneuvering procedures. The Wasp ARG is currently operating in the region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
