Top Rebel Slams Attempts To Link Kashmir Struggle To Al- Qaeda, ISIS.

Riyaz Naikoo, a top commander of Kashmir’s largest rebel group Hizbul Mujahideen, showed up along with one of his associates at the funeral of Shariq Ahmad who was one of the two Hizb rebels killed in an overnight encounter with Indian forces in southern Pulwama district on Sunday . Addressing a mammoth gathering of people, Naikoo said as part of a ploy to defame the freedom struggle of Kashmiris certain elements were trying to link it to groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Naikoo’s statement comes days after Zakir Musa, a breakaway rebel denounced by the Hizb for expressing support for Al-Qaeda and ISIS, was named as the head of Al-Qaeda’s Kashmir wing according to media reports.
