Denmark's Prince Henrik aboard royal yacht 'Dennebrog' after his visit to Cordouan Lighthouse (in the background), off Royan, western France on August 27, 2008. Cordouan is the oldest lighthouse in France, it is very large and very ornate, and was made a historical monument in 1862, at the same time as Notre-Dame de Paris. The first Fresnel lens used in a lighthouse was installed here in 1823, to be replaced by the present lens in 1854. It is located 7 km at sea, near the mouth of the Gironde estuary in France. Prince Henrik, the French-born husband of Denmark's Queen Margrethe II, has died, the palace announced Wednesday. He was 83. Photo by Patrick Bernard/ABACAPRESS.COM
