The practice of mandala offering works with the energy of desire. Practitioners create a symbolic mandala out of rice and precious objects in order to give it all away. Bodhgaya is where the Buddha reached enlightenment and is thus the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destination in the world. The Mahabodhi Temple and adjacent Bodhi tree marks the spot where the Buddha achieved enlightenment and set out on his life of preaching. Monks come from around the world to meditate, worship and study.
