November 10, 2018 - Athens, Greece - The opening ceremony of the 36th Athens Authentic Marathon took place today at the Marathonas Tomb where the battle between Athenians and Persians took place in 480 bc. After the win for Athenians, a runner run all the way to Athens to bring the good news and died from exhaustion right after, therefore the event is inspired from that incident.
