Espinavell Transhumance Fair in the Pyrenees
Add to Lightbox DownloadOctober 13, 2019, Espinavell, Spain: Every October, in a small town in the Catalan Pyrenees, a traditional fair dedicated to the horse is celebrated. During the summer months, horses graze on the mountain until the they are driven on a long descent for the transhumance fair. Once in town, foals are separated from their mothers, and deals are negotiated. After the fair, the rest of the horses are returned to the mountain, where they will wait for the first snow. Throughout the day there are also contests to choose the best horses, and artisan and traditional products are sold. (Credit Image: © Dani Salva/ZUMA Wire)
