September 5, 2017 - Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand - A man prays at spirit house in Bangkok's Chinatown district on Hungry Ghost Day. The Ghost Festival is a Buddhist and Taoist holy day celebrated on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month. It is primarily celebrated in China and Chinese communities outisde China. In Thailand, it's celebrated in Thai-Chinese communities in Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. On that day ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm to visit the living. Families prepare elaborate banquets for the spirits and burn ''ghost money'' for the spirits to use in the other realm. It is a day for venerating dead relatives.
