As the sun sets gloriously over Cardigan Bay on a crystal clear but bitterly cold evening, tens of thousands of starlings fill every possible surface as they prepare to roost for the night on the forest of cast iron legs underneath Aberystwyth’s Victorian seaside pier. Aberystwyth is one of the few urban roosts in the country and draws people from all over the UK to witness the spectacular nightly displays.
