August 7, 2017 - Manggis, Bali, Indonesia - Students from schools in eastern Bali participate in an Indonesian Independence Day march in Manggis, an ocean side community in eastern Bali. Indonesian Independence Day, the country's national holiday, is celebrated on August 17. It was on that date in 1945 that Sukarno signed Indonesia's proclamation of independence from the Netherlands. It was the beginning of a four year war for independence. The Dutch didn't officially grant Indonesia independence until December, 1949. The day is celebrated with parades and enthusiastic displays of patriotism throughout the country. (Credit Image: © Jack Kurtz via ZUMA Wire)
