USC Trojan star halfback won Heisman trophy for best college football player in 1968. First pick 1969 NFL draft. Drafted and played for the Buffalo Bills, where he was the NFL's rushing leader in the 1972 season, gaining 1251 yards. In 1973, he became the first player to rush for more than 2000 yards in a single season, finishing with 2003. In 1975, he set a record for touchdowns in 1 season, with 23 (since broken), while rushing for 1817 yards. Traded  to the San Francisco 49ers in 1979, where he played his final 2 years. Florida authorities said Saturday the man who shot and killed singer Christina Grimmie traveled to the concert venue specifically to attack her and then turned the gun on himself. Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at a news conference that the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Kevin Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida, didnÕt appear to know the singer personally. Grimmie was shot to death after giving a concert in Orlando Friday night. She died early Saturday. ''She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise.   • CHARLES MANSON (born Charles Milles Maddox, November 12, 1934 - November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and cult leader who formed what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune in California in the late 1960s. Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. In 1971 he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, all of which were carried out at his instruction by members of the group.
