The 'Arch' as he is affectionally known walked a short distance down the driveway with his walking stick along with others assisting him and waved warmly at the South African Media before going back inside his home in Milnerton near Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa on Monday 6th May 2019. <br />

South Africa's four Nobel Peace Prize Laureates are honoured for their extraordinary achievements of peace & democracy in South Africa with the official unveiling of a sculptural square in the historical heart of Cape Town.<br />

Nobel Square is the new home of sculptures of the late Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, former State President FW de Klerk & former President Nelson Mandela as well as a fifth sculpture called 'Peace & Democracy' which is a narrative work acknowledging the contribution of women & children to the attainment of peace in South Africa.<br />

  • The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu begins his first day of work as Visiting Professor in Post-Conflict Societies for the 2004 spring term at King's College London in central London, where he will teach and later today preach inside the university's chapel at the Beginning of Term Service. This will be the first time that the former Archbishop of Cape Town has held a post at a British university, though it was at King's where he studied for his Master of Theology during the 1960's. Desmond Tutu was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his work as General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches after working tirelessly against apartheid.
