  • Meet the Woman Who Lives With 1,500 Tarantulas...Just one bite from one tarantula can cause grave discomfort — imagine living with 1,500 of them all under one roof...A 28-year-old Indonesian woman named Ming Cu has been collecting tarantulas since 2010. Known as “Queen Tarantula”, the woman considers her venomous arachnids as pets...The Bandung resident even created a website called “Spider Lover Pet Shop” where she sells unusual pets online..Cu, who is also a breeder, admits to having been bitten “several times”, but it doesn’t stop her from pursuing her love for spiders, even when her business partner and friend quit the business they started together...“The challenge in breeding and keeping thousands of tarantulas is that I’m actually doing it alone, at first, and so it takes me time, personal time, there is no me time at all,” Cu said...Cu’s obsession with spiders started 7 years ago when she photographed a tarantula she saw in their backyard. She instantly became hooked and looked for sellers online to get her first tarantula...Her fascination and collection grew, and before she knew it, she collected over 1,500 spiders that are now living in a jars and glass terrariums in a designated room in her home. Cu said that she probably cashed out around $55,000 for her collection...The Badung Institute of Technology graduate said that her parents were apprehensive at first of her unusual business venture and hobby, but both have grown supportive of her love for spiders..© Ming Cu/Exclusivepix Media (Credit Image: © Exclusivepix media via ZUMA Press)

  • Young girl banned from chess tournament over “seductive” outfit..While competing at the 2017 National Scholastic Chess Championship in Putrajaya, the girl was approached by Chief Arbiter Sophian A. Yusof and told that “the dress she wore was improper and violated the dress code of the tournament,” her coach, Kaushal Khandhar, wrote in a lengthy Facebook statement. His post goes on to say that the poor girl felt “harassed and humiliated by the actions of the Tournament Director and Chief Arbiter [Sophian A. Yusof].” He reportedly told the coach and mother of the child that her dress was “seductive” and a “temptation from a certain angle far, far away.” The post has been shared nearly three thousand times...The mother was asked to get her child more appropriate attire at 10pm that night, past the hour when all shops would be closed. The tournament started the next morning at 9am, before any shops were open. The girl’s mother, Chin Wai Ling, did not have time to buy trousers and, as a result, the girl was forced to withdraw. At this time, let it be known that she was in leader position for her category at the tournament...Her coach detailed the ramifications of the incident: “the loss of time and money which was invested before, during and after the tournament on coaching, registration fees, traveling, accommodation and other incurred costs.”..“This bright young girl was recently the champion of her district in MSS Kuala Lumpur and has shown tremendous potential in chess. This incident has left her extremely disturbed, and embarrassed.”..Malaysians stood behind the girl, and have called for Chief Arbiter Sophian A. Yusof’s resignation, and expressed disgust in his sexualization of a young girl. Netizens shared his details and picture over two thousand times, leaving their angry remarks in the comments section...As of last Friday, the tournament director said they would r

  • Carelessness kills woman motorcyclist...Dashcam footage shows a driver and his passenger bickering as they drive along a main road in Thailand’s Soghkla Province...However any distraction that the argument may have caused cannot be blamed for the accident that occurred when a female motorcyclist changed lanes in front of the car without checking...The result is obvious form the footage and the 19 year old motorcyclist sustained serious head injuries from which she later died Her passenger was also seriously injured and remains in a serious condition...Obviously the accident would not have occurred if the woman had checked behind her before making the maneuver – especially as she was wearing a Muslim headscarf which would anyway have hindered her view and perhaps her hearing the car behind...Another major contributing factor was probably that she was not wearing a crash helmet. The law about crash helmets is vague in Thailand - most believe that the driver MUST wear one whilst the passenger need not. In any even the law is seldom observed especially in remote areas – all this contributes to Thailand having the second worst road fatalities record in the world...The driver, a 29 year old known simply as Yo, said “I had not yet paid my insurance so the repairs to my car will cost me 45,000 baht (approximately 1,000 pounds) and the motorcyclist won’t be insured – they never are”.©Exclusivepix Media (Credit Image: © Exclusivepix media via ZUMA Press)

  • May 3, 2017 - Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S - The skyway going into Baker Center, a newer building in downtown Minneapolis. The skyways are enclosed pedestrian overpasses that connect downtown buildings. The Minneapolis Skyway was started in the early 1960s as a response to covered shopping malls in the suburbs that were drawing shoppers out of the downtown area. The system grew sporadically until 1974, when the construction of the IDS Center and its center atrium, called the Crystal Court, served as a hub for the downtown skyway system. There are 8 miles of skyways, connecting most of the downtown buildings from Target Field (home of the Minnesota Twins) to US Bank Stadium (home of the Minnesota Vikings). In the last five years many upscale downtown apartment buildings and condominium developments have been added to the system, allowing downtown residents to live and work downtown without going outside. That’s because they are all made from sushi. The shoes include designs from Adidas, Nike and Vans. They are the work of Japanese chef Yujia Hu who owns the Sakana sushi restaurant in Milan, Italy. Each piece of footwear has been carefully crafted from the main sushi ingredients of fish, rice and seaweed. And they were inspired by Yugia’s love of the NBA US basketball league. He explained he first began by using balls of the rice dish known in sushi s as onigri , to represent some of the sport’s biggest names. He explained:’“ I've always been a big fan of NBA so I started creating onigri representing my favourite basketball players. “Aside from that, one of my passions is also cinema and TV series, so other creations were iconic movie and television actors. “My onigiris has evolved making sneakers, starting from the iconic Jordan inspired from my favorite basketball player Michael Jordan to the trending streetwear sneakers of the moment.”He said he also wanted to give special thanks to his girlfriend “ especially thanks to my girlfriend which is a freelance fashion stylist Christine Lat.He said:” She has always influenced me on my creations regarding the fashion industry “She inspired hiom to make a series of sushi fashion designers during the recent Milan fashion week.Describing his sushi works of art, he continued:” I take more or less 20 to 30 minutes to make an onigiri, depending on how detailed it is.“My main ingredients are sushi rice, seaweed, and fish.“I began creating #theonigiriart on my Instagram page , at first, just for fun, but then I started being very passionate about it and love what I am doing.” # DES SUSHIS CHAUSSURES (Credit Image: © Visual via ZUMA Press)
